Australian Swimmer Kyle Chalmers and Fiancée Ingeborg Løyning Expecting First Child Together
Kyle Chalmers is about to become a first-time dad.
26-year-old Australian swimmer announced on Instagram yesterday that him and his partner, 24-year-old Norwegian swimmer Ingeborg Løyning, are going to have their first baby together.
In their Instagram post, the joyful pair showed off their radiant smiles, proudly displaying an ultrasound image of their upcoming baby girl. They both wore identical white tees and donned hats that read “Mom” and “Dad.
They eagerly look forward to welcoming their tiny Norwegian princess into existence later on this year, as stated in their post.
Australian Olympic swimmers Mollie O’Callaghan, Kai Taylor, Shayna Jack, and Kiah Melverton joined a group of well-wishers that included AFL partner Kellie Finlayson and Olympic runner Jessica Stenson.

Shayna exclaimed, ‘Wow, congratulations! I’m thrilled for you two! You’re going to be fantastic parents.’
‘Congrats brother, super happy for you both,’ Kai wrote.
The pair’s thrilling announcement follows Chalmers disclosing that he nearly abandoned swimming, due to the well-known love triangle scandal that stirred the Australian team in 2022.
Chalmers found himself at the center of a whirlwind of media attention due to his complex romantic entanglement with his ex-girlfriend, Emma McKeon, and another swimmer, Cody Simpson.
Chalmers and McKeon briefly dated in 2021.
In July 2022, three months following the start of their clandestine relationship in April, McKeon and Simpson made their bond public on Instagram.
Chalmers’ reversal of his decision not to participate in the World Championships, initially leaving Simpson out of the team, sparked speculation that his choice wasn’t solely about swimming skills.
During the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, the story continued as all three Australian swimmers participated, with Chalmers admitting that he spent the time before his 100m freestyle event shedding tears in his hotel room.

‘It is a sport that I love.’ he told A Current Affair. ‘But I was in a very, very dark place.
‘Reflecting on that. I was asking myself ‘why am I actually doing this? Why?’
‘I think rock bottom, was probably, like, alone at the Commonwealth Games.
;Just being in my room completely preparing for the final, I was crying in my room.
‘We’re in a university so a pretty old sort of building. What am I, what am I here for?’
Previously, Chalmers disclosed that amidst his challenges, he penned a retirement declaration. Instead, he now intends to play football at a local level in Australia.
‘It was very, very stressful,’ Chalmers told the Soda Room podcast.
‘I was going to say, now I’m done – I’m going to stay in Port Lincoln now and play country footy.’
He emphasized that any notion of him excluding Simpson from the team for Budapest was “utter nonsense,” but it wasn’t until the Commonwealth Games where he experienced a personal record low point.
‘We just broke the Commonwealth record and we won gold … and they’ve just teed off,’ he says.
‘No questions were asked about swimming… The entirety of this supposed disagreement was utter nonsense. In truth, there was absolutely no dispute between us at all.’
