Australian Radio Legend John Carroll Dies After Long Cancer Battle

The Australian radio industry is deeply saddened by the passing of John Carroll, a well-loved broadcaster from Sydney who held significant positions at Triple M and 2Day FM.

On May 2nd, Carroll’s partner posted an emotional update on social media, disclosing that due to feeling exhausted, Carroll decided to discontinue his chemotherapy treatment.

On the fateful day of April 28th, I was the one who escorted John to the hospital doors. The doctor inquired, addressing John directly, whether he wished to persist with his treatment regimen. In a voice that spoke volumes, she started by saying, “He’s not keen on it.

As a devoted follower speaking here, I must confess that John finds the agony of chemotherapy unbearable. It grieves him deeply to spend his days in the hospital, and instead, he yearns for the solace of his own home during his final moments.

‘That’s John’s goal. John has no strength, he is very weak. He said he knew he could not do it. 

On the morning of May 2nd, John was feeling tired and delirious.’

Carroll leaves behind a legacy of excellence in broadcasting
