TikTok creator Matt Hey caused a buzz online when he put up his Christmas tree in September – three months before the holiday!
The 29-year-old Australian comedian recently shared that he’s doing something different this year – he’s using Labulu toys instead of traditional holiday decorations.
Last week, Matt shared a surprising video on TikTok, acknowledging that his choice to decorate his Christmas tree with ‘creepy’ dolls might not be popular with everyone.
Matt cheerfully admitted he enjoyed provoking a reaction from people as he decorated a Christmas tree with the popular dolls, telling his fans, ‘This is going to make so many people so angry – and I love it!’
He explained that Labubus was the perfect choice for a theme, as he wanted to capture the spirit of the year in his work.
These dolls, created by artist Kasing Lung who was born in Hong Kong, have become very popular in Australia since the beginning of 2025.

Okay, so this is *totally* blowing my mind! You know those collectible dolls? The tiny keychain ones? Well, people who are serious collectors – the ones who happily drop over thirty bucks on just *one* – they have no idea which doll they’re getting! It’s a complete surprise every time, which is kinda crazy, right? I mean, I need to know *everything* about these dolls, but apparently, everyone else is just taking a gamble! It’s wild!
In the video, Matt excitedly showed off his Labubu dolls, which he’d gotten from Singapore, and some other dolls he said were hard to find.
Matt playfully put a spin on the classic Christmas song ‘Jingle Bells,’ rewriting the lyrics as ‘Labubu bells, Labubu bells, Labubu bells all the way’.
He reminded everyone, somewhat pointedly, that he was an adult, and then added, ‘I’ve enjoyed this much more than you have.’
By Tuesday, the video had received over 44,000 likes and more than 300 comments, with many people praising Matt for his unique approach.
One TikTok user playfully said, ‘I dislike Labulus, but I love this!’ Another messaged that they also enjoyed it, adding, ‘I actually had fun too.’
A third fan simply said, ‘Love, love, love, this.’
Matt said he was so tired of 2025 that he declared he was ready to start celebrating Christmas in September.

Honestly, I’m so excited! This guy just announced in a really funny video that he’s putting his Christmas tree up in September, and he doesn’t care who tries to talk him out of it. I’m totally here for it!
I’m really ready for this year to be over. Let’s just decorate for Christmas and move on.
‘I would like to actually enjoy Christmas for as long as possible.’
Before anyone could comment on the next holiday event, Matt quickly shut it down.
He angrily dismissed any mention of Halloween, exclaiming he was completely fed up with it and didn’t want to discuss it at all.
‘There I said it. Always have always will – hate Halloween. Boring, next.’
He said he’s planning to decorate the Christmas tree this weekend and invited anyone who wants to help. He jokingly added that those who aren’t interested can just say ‘bah humbug!’
Matt’s video has gotten over 70,000 views, and a lot of people support his choice to put up a Christmas tree back in September.
‘You know what? I approve, Merry Christmas to you and your family,’ one said.
‘I’m not mad about this,’ another shared.
Someone commented that it’s a pity to only keep a Christmas tree up for three weeks, since it really lifts your mood and makes your home feel cheerful.
Someone else said they wished it could be Christmas every day, loving the festive decorations and delicious food, and fully supported the idea.
Not everyone was on board, and someone pointed out to Matt that it was September. Matt didn’t appreciate the comment, responding with, ‘Not loving your energy here.’
