Australian Fans Stunned by Drake Surprise Gig, Miss Universe Contestants & No Phones Allowed!
On Thursday, the popular Canadian rap artist, known for his hit song “God’s Plan,” surprised fans by organizing an exclusive pre-tour event in Australia. The generous Drake footed the bill at the bar, invited 25 Miss Universe contestants, and enforced a single rule: ‘No photography or video recording allowed.’
At Le Club in Melbourne, Drake performed for 90 minutes, and shared four videos of the show on Instagram. These posts gave the impression that he unexpectedly showed up at a nearby bar without prior announcement to delight his fans.
As a dedicated follower, I took the extraordinary step of securing an exclusive lease for the entire venue, which had been our dining spot earlier in the day. I then graciously extended invitations to approximately 100 prominent figures from the local social and influencer circles, eagerly welcoming them to join us.
On Thursday night, a line of dark vehicles stopped outside the contemporary French eatery Maison Bâtard belonging to chef Chris Lucas. Nearly past midnight, Drake stepped onto the stage.
After winning $700,000 at Crown Casino, the rapper chose to kick off the celebration by reserving the top terrace of a three-tier establishment for a festive lunch, signaling the start of the party.
As reported by The Herald Sun, Drake hosted the event at the bar, taking care of the expenses for the entire night. This included martinis, champagne, and shots for his female companions who were quite young, along with 30 members of his personal entourage and security team.
The head of the team of ten employees was treated to an extravagant meal at the restaurant, which included oysters, caviar, and lobster as starters. According to a representative of the establishment, this was followed by their famous Rotisserie Chicken with Green Olives for the main course.
‘He met with the chef after lunch to rave about the food, and was a delight to have in!’ she added.
Le Club represents a hidden gem tucked away in the cellar of Chris Lucas’ eatery, offering an after-hours dining experience that extends beyond just eating and drinking, inviting patrons to enjoy themselves well into the night.
In a playful manner, Drake sang a mix of new, unheard tracks along with fan favorites such as Faithful, Pipe Down, Trust Issues, and Rich Baby Daddy. He humorously referred to this set as his “Melbourne karaoke” in the captions of his videos.
A single individual, accompanied by 100 women, expressed their thoughts on a video showcasing Drake moving rhythmically to the instrumental version of his famous track. The crowd was vocalizing the lyrics: ‘Shake your rear end.’
Another remarked, “That’s quite an impressive proportion here,” as the video captured the large group of women gathered close to the stage.
Chef Chris, along with his wife and her two daughters, went to the performance, in addition to Melbourne socialites Bianca Roccisano and Amanda Smorgon.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but share this exclusive scoop! While we all handed over our phones at the door, Drake’s security extended invitations to a select group of 25 Miss Universe contestants for a private dining extravaganza on the terrace with the music legend and his team, as reported by The Herald. What a night to remember!
The newspaper reported the private party lasted well into the early hours of Friday morning.
Drake told the crowd in the candelit room that he ‘loves an intimate setting.’
A representative from the restaurant informed Daily Mail that everyone had an excellent time, and we were particularly thrilled about the event, but any additional details must remain confidential.
In November 2024, Maison Batard officially opened its doors. The fact that Drake performed there serves as proof of its status as a top-tier global venue.
Plenty of fans lost it over the performance.
‘That karaoke night Drake is doing in Melbourne is too sick, proper musician fr.’ one wrote.
Another suggested: ‘Wowwww the luckiest crowd. It’s giving Tiny Desk and I’d like to see it.’
A third said: ‘Best concert rehearsal in the world lol.’
While some people were not swayed, others suggested that the timing of the rapper’s Australian tour, being his first in eight years, seemed particularly opportune.
On the same day as the American Super Bowl, it’s reported that Drake’s inaugural concert is scheduled. Rumor has it that Kendrick Lamar might perform their rivalry-themed song “Not Like Us” during his halftime act.
‘Bruh had to leave the country before the Superbowl. soft,’ one fan said.
It seems he’s also apprehensive about the Grammy Awards, as the Super Bowl is still a week away… In any case, take care, Australia.
A third wrote: ‘Drake performing In someone’s basement while Kendrick is going to the Superbowl!’
In the past few months, the musical rivalry between Drake and Kendrick has escalated significantly. This came about when “Not Like Us” climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, prompting Drake to retaliate by taking their dispute to the legal arena.
I, a devoted admirer, have taken legal action against Kendrick Lamar due to the allegations he made about me falsely labeling me as a sex offender. Moreover, the claims that I engaged in pedophilic activities, harbored sex offenders, and committed other criminal sexual acts are unfounded and damaging to my reputation.
He’s also since sued his own record label Universal Music Group, who distribute both men’s music.
