Australian crime drama branded “terrific” given new UK streaming home

Australian crime drama Jack Irish has landed a new UK streaming home.

The series featuring Guy Pearce from “Neighbours” and “The Brutalist,” originally premiered in 2016. It ran for three seasons up until 2021, following which it was succeeded by three television films.

All three TV seasons have now become available to stream on Channel 4.

As a game enthusiast, I immerse myself in the world of Jack Irish, a character I play, who was once a lawyer but now takes on the roles of an investigator and debt collector. This gripping narrative comes from the novels penned by Peter Temple.

One viewer on Google labeled the series as “fantastic,” while it boasts an impressive 76% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition to Pearce, the cast includes Marta Dusseldorp, Aaron Pedersen, Roy Billing, Shane Jacobson, and Damien Richardson.

Last month, Pearce earned his inaugural Oscar nomination with his performance in “The Brutalist“, a film that has been garnering attention and is among the leading contenders for this year’s awards, having received ten nominations.

In February, I found myself reflecting on my past choices as an actor, specifically those years when I starred in films that weren’t exactly my cup of tea. In an interview with The Times, I candidly admitted that during a challenging time, namely my divorce, I was compelled to take these roles because they provided the financial support I needed.

During the years of 2016, 2017, and 2018, which were my divorce periods, I found myself reading scripts, thinking to myself, “This is quite good actually, I could pull this off.” However, if you had asked me a year prior, I would have flatly refused.

When you’re in a situation where you have to broaden your ability to accept various things due to financial needs, it felt incredibly comforting once I settled the divorce expenses.

As a gamer, sometimes the lines between what’s genuinely enjoyable and what’s merely a distraction from my real-life troubles blur. I find myself appreciating something, only to doubt if it’s truly worthwhile or if it’s just helping me cope with my current situation – in this case, managing the financial fallout of my divorce.
