As a dedicated follower of Australian basketball and a proud Adelaidean, I can’t help but feel elated by the news of Brad Newley’s impressive real estate win. The former Olympian and basketball great has sold his investment property in Malvern for an astounding $1,711,500, leaving him with a significant profit of $961,500.

Brad Newley, a renowned basketball player from Australia, achieved a significant success in real estate as he sold his Adelaide rental property for a noteworthy $1,711,500 at auction.

Recently, a 39-year-old man named Newley purchased a trendy three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse in Malvern for $750,000 in the year 2008. As a result, he gained a profit of approximately $961,500 following the sale. (Former Olympian refers to Newley being an ex-olympian, so I assumed “he” is Newley)

Located just 4 kilometers from the central business district, this two-story house boasts an open layout design and appealing timber accents.

I was recently intrigued by a news article in The Advertiser that shared the story of Newley, an individual who was born and raised in Adelaide. Sixteen years ago, before he embarked on his successful basketball career, Newley made the decision to purchase a home. It’s fascinating to me how one’s life can take such unexpected turns. When I think about making such a significant investment like buying a house, I often wonder if I would have had the same foresight and determination as Newley did at that age. His story serves as an inspiration for young people today to believe in their dreams and plan ahead, even when faced with uncertainties.

The ex-Boomer explained to the publication that when he bought the house, he was still quite young. Back in the early 2000s, his father owned the property instead.

He shared, “This was my initial purchase, and it’s proven to be an excellent return on investment for me. Moreover, I take pride in being a responsible landlord throughout these years.”

Highlights include high ceilings and a spacious master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and en suite.

Nestled among beautifully landscaped and intricately designed gardens, this pad comes equipped with a ducted climate control system, perfect for coping with the notoriously hot summer and cold winter temperatures in the city.

The ground floor features the main living area, opening to a charming porch and garden.

There’s also an oversized kitchen with a breakfast bar and adjoining dining area.

In 2003, Newley, who stands at 198 cm tall, gained recognition as a key player on the Australian Under-19 team that clinched the gold medal in the FIBA World Championship against Lithania.

Newley made headlines in the game after scoring 16 points.

He played with the gold medal-winning Boomers at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the robust athlete was chosen to join the Boomers team. There, he delivered yet another remarkable display of skill. Additionally, he donned the Australian colors on the national squad for the London Olympics in 2012.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: When it comes to basketball in Australia, I had the privilege of playing for some fantastic teams. Specifically, I suited up for the Townsville Crocodiles in the NBL, then moved on to wear the colors of the Sydney Kings and Melbourne United.

In 2023, he decided to call it a career after representing various European clubs and having the selection rights for him in the American National Basketball League (NBL) being secured by teams such as The New York Knicks.
