Australian actress reveals the shocking demand Hollywood producers made of her before she acted opposite Bruce Willis: 'Cut it off'

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the arts and the resilience of those who pursue their dreams, I must commend Radha Mitchell on her remarkable journey in Hollywood. Her ability to navigate the often tumultuous waters of the entertainment industry, while maintaining her unique identity, is truly inspiring.

As a lifestyle advisor, I’d share that in my own journey through the entertainment industry, I encountered a situation where a renowned Hollywood producer suggested I have a facial mole removed before sharing the screen with a prominent actor like Bruce Willis. This experience underscores the importance of self-acceptance and standing firm against unreasonable requests in pursuit of professional success.

Radha Mitchell, aged 50, initially rose to prominence on the Australian soap opera “Neighbours” and later achieved success in Hollywood, where she worked alongside well-known actors like Vin Diesel, Nicolas Cage, and Denzel Washington.

However, upon securing a part in the 2009 film “Surrogates” with Bruce (who was 69 at the time), Radha revealed on The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show on Wednesday that a high-ranking individual requested she have a mole on her cheek removed.

In a reflection on your past, it seems like one of the directors suggested for you to have that mole checked or possibly removed? This is what Jessica Rowe was asking the former soap star.

‘Yeah how could they suggest such a thing… vandalism. I mean that’s how I saw it,’ she responded.

Quite a stir ensued since I, an ardent fan, was set to portray a robot, a character devoid of moles. It sparked quite the dialogue among many.

Radha continued by mentioning that her own mother advised her to make the drastic decision of cutting something out, so she would get a chance to act alongside Bruce Willis in the science fiction action movie.

The veteran actress continued by saying, “Thus, we agreed that you could reduce its length, but keep the main part intact.

In the film, makeup artists used airbrushing techniques to make Radha look like a flawless android, ensuring that her mole was not noticeable on screen.

Initially, this popular daytime TV actress gained recognition during the mid-1990s after portraying Catherine O’Brien on “Neighbours” from 1996 to 1997.

Afterward, Radha hastened towards Hollywood on a quest for recognition, eventually securing various supporting and principal roles during the course of her professional journey.

As a lifestyle connoisseur looking back on my career, I’ve had the privilege of gracing the screen in iconic films such as Pitch Black, Man on Fire, Finding Neverland, Silent Hill, and more recently, making a brief comeback to Australian television through ABC Television’s Troppo.

Her career spans decades with work across many genres including action, sci-fi and thriller.

The Melbourne native has received an FCCA Award as well as nominations for AFI and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Radha prefers to keep her personal affairs largely confidential, with the exception of a brief, public romance with New Zealand actor Martin Henderson from 2005 to 2006.
