Australian actress reveals the hardest Celine Dion songs to sing as she nabs the role of a lifetime playing the iconic singer - but does she look anything like the superstar?

As a dedicated follower of musical theater and a lover of Celine Dion’s iconic tunes, I must say that I am absolutely thrilled about Marney McQueen taking on the role of a lifetime in Titanique! Though she may not bear an uncanny resemblance to the beloved pop legend, her imitation of Dion’s speaking and singing voice has earned gushing reviews.

A popular musical inspired by the songs of Celine Dion is set to arrive in Australia following impressive critiques in New York City.

Actress Marney McQueen from Australia has secured a career-defining role, portraying a French-Canadian singer in the musical production titled “Titanique.”

However, one might question if David McQueen, known for his roles on various television series and stage adaptations of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Hairspray, bears any resemblance to the 56-year-old singing sensation.

As an over-the-moon fan, I couldn’t hide my ear-to-ear grin upon hearing the news about the upcoming Sydney performance of the new musical starring that beloved actor and hilarious stand-up comedian.

At the latest Paris Olympics, Marney donned a vibrant pink suit instead of the usual sleek hairstyle and glamorous dress associated with Celine. Her new hair and makeup were quite distinct from Celine’s signature slicked-back look and glittery attire.

Despite the musical theatre star not physically resembling the well-loved pop legend, she’s been praised lavishly for her spot-on imitations of both Dion’s speech and vocal style.

As a lifestyle connoisseur speaking here, I recently discovered that McQueen shared with news.com.au which of the iconic tunes sung by our beloved artist presents the greatest challenge when it comes to hitting those high notes flawlessly.

McQueen claimed My Heart Will Go On was the most difficult.

She remarked that, without a doubt, that popular tune is undeniably the most challenging one to perform, as it was prominently featured in James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster movie, Titanic.

The musical featuring McQueen’s performance is connected to the Titanic disaster, since it portrays Celine Dion being aboard the ship on the fateful night of its sinking in 1912.

The musical production, often referred to as a “laugh-out-loud musical extravaganza,” narrates the tragic tale of the Titanic’s journey using an extensive collection of Celine Dion’s music.

McQueen also had to engage a vocal coach as so many of Dion’s songs are ‘big and powerful.’

As a connoisseur of all things lifestyle, I must admit that, beyond “My Heart Will Go On,” another soulful melody from the remarkable vocal arsenal of Celine Dion has proven challenging for me to deliver on stage.

‘I Surrender, which I sing as the ship goes down. It’s relentless,’ she admitted.

“I Surrender was a standout track from Dion’s eighteenth studio album, titled ‘A New Day Has Come.’ This album achieved double platinum status in Australia upon its debut in 2002.”

McQueen described the show was a ‘love letter to Celine Dion.’

Her humor is simply outstanding, making the show a constant source of laughter due to her wit and comical nature.

McQueen’s fellow actors are Drew Weston (portraying Jack Dawson), Georgina Hopson (as Rose), and Abu Kebe (in the role of the iceberg).

Additionally, Matt Lee, a previous judge on So You Think You Can Dance, is also set to join the cast, portraying the role of Victor Garber.

Titanique premieres in Sydney at The Grand Electric from September 12.
