Australian actress reveals director’s shockingly inappropriate request when she was just 18

Previously known as an actress from Australia, now a podcast host, has shared a troubling incident where a film director made an unexpectedly inappropriate proposition towards her during their work collaboration.

Back in 2006-2007, when Ruby Hall was a star on the Channel Nine kids’ comedy show The Sleepover Club, she shared on her Inherited podcast that one director had inappropriately requested a kiss from her.

Ruby explained, “One moment in particular may have contributed to my loss of self-confidence as a young performer. That instance was when I encountered a male director at a younger age.

‘We were rehearsing for a fringe show and this is right after I finished high school so I was 18.

‘I remember one night after rehearsal, we were in the drama room and he was giving me a lift home.

In a close collaboration, he expressed, “Could you please kiss me here and now?” At that moment, he was around mid-twenties.

Hall firmly declined his proposal, a move that wasn’t associated with an audition process, which made their subsequent encounters quite uncomfortable.

In response to your question, “When he asked if I could continue rehearsing, I politely declined, explaining that we had already stopped. His reaction showed surprise, and later on, he ended up giving me a ride home, which made for an uncomfortable situation.

I’ve developed my inner strength through the examples set by my mother and grandmother. From an early age, they taught me right from wrong and what is acceptable in life.

She did not reveal the identity of the director in question.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Hall for comment.

‘SO proud of you for sharing this,’ one person wrote.

‘Weeping. Love you beautiful,’ a second follower added.

‘I wish I had your strength of character,’ another user wrote.

The individual, aged 31, was once a young actress on screen, notably playing roles alongside the well-known Neighbours actor Caitlin Stasey in The Sleepover Club.

She later appeared on the ABC sitcom Mal.com in 2011.

The former performer has not worked in film or television since then.

Currently, Hall serves as the presenter for the Inherited podcast, where he engages well-known Australians in thoughtful conversations that often delve into challenging topics.

Celebrities to feature on her podcast include Laura Henshaw, Ariarne Titmus and Mia Freedman.
