As a die-hard movie buff with a soft spot for gripping narratives and exceptional performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Austin Butler‘s latest venture into the world of cinema. The man has been on a roll lately, from his electrifying portrayal of Elvis Presley to his upcoming role in Dune: Part Two. Now, he’s set to take on one of the most iconic roles in modern literature – Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho reboot!
Austin Butler will take on the leading role in the forthcoming revamp of “American Psycho.
In October, it was revealed that Luca Guadagnino, famously recognized for his work on “Challengers” and “Call Me By Your Name,” would be directing an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel from 1991. This book has already been turned into a film once in the year 2000, under the direction of Mary Harron.
It appears that about two months after the initial announcement, Guadagnino may have cast his Patrick Bateman. According to Variety, Butler, who has gained recognition for his performances in Elvis and Dune: Part Two, is poised to assume the part previously held by Christian Bale.

The forthcoming movie penned by Scott Z Burns isn’t a rehash of the 2000 film; rather, it’s an unique interpretation of Ellis’s novel that portrays a self-absorbed and arrogant banker who secretly leads a life as a serial killer.
After a period of intense work for the director, Guadagnino’s new project will follow closely, with “Queer” – featuring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey – hitting screens only eight months after the premiere of “Challengers”.
For Butler, the announcement comes amidst a productive period, with the actor recently signing up for American Speed alongside Tom Holland. The film will reportedly follow the 1980s IMSA Scandal, with Butler and Holland set to play the Whittington brothers.

Following closely upon “The Bikeriders”, a story set in 1960s Chicago that focuses on a motorcycle gang featuring characters like Johnny (Tom Hardy) and Benny (Butler), we find Butler discussing his collaboration with Hardy. He referred to Hardy as his idol.
You can’t always predict if you’ll connect with your idols, but Tom has me laughing more than just about anyone else on the planet,” Butler said to Entertainment Weekly about his co-star.
Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho currently has no release date.
