Austin Butler admits Caught Stealing cat co-star is a “scene stealer”

Austin Butler has heaped praise upon his Caught Stealing co-star.

In a fascinating turn of events, the actor known for portraying both Elvis and Dune shares screen time with Regina King, Zoe Kravitz, Matt Smith, Bad Bunny, Liev Schreiber, and Vincent D’Onofrio. However, he insists that it’s Tonic the cat who truly steals the show.

At the screening event this week, Butler praised Digital Spy by expressing that the cat actor, known as Bud in the movie, was truly remarkable.

“He’s so smart and so cute, but he’s a scene stealer. He’s so present, it’s amazing,” Butler said.

Kravitz noted that the cat is incredibly intelligent and disciplined, with no issues encountered whatsoever. To be honest, it seems as though the cat’s training was so impeccable that it inspired others to maintain their own high standards.

In a playful manner, director Darren Aronofsky compared Tonic the cat to the acting prowess of Daniel Day-Lewis among felines, stating that he’s an exceptional animal with great talent.

“Totally in character all the time. Never steps out of character, he’s always a cat.”

In the latter part of the 1990s, the movie “Caught Stealing” is centered around, with Cliff Curtis playing Hank Thompson – a retired baseball player. Notably, he agrees to look after Bud, a cat belonging to Smith’s eccentric character, Russ, who sports an orange mohawk.

Unfortunately, that leads to him getting roped into New York City’s criminal underworld.

As we approach the movie’s debut next week, initial reviews from critics are popping up online, and they’ve been generally favorable so far.

The movie exhibits a vintage ’90s crime vibe, bursting with energy and unexpected plots. So far, it’s been labeled as the most approachable film by director Darren Aronofsky yet.

Caught Stealing is released in cinemas on 29 August.
