Aussies shocked by how little TV news anchors earn as two Channel Seven stars reveal their low salaries

As a devoted admirer, I’ve got to share an intriguing revelation that has left me, and many other Australian TV enthusiasts, quite astounded. Two beloved Channel Seven personalities recently disclosed the relatively modest income they receive from their work on our screens.

This week, reporter Rosanna Kingsun and news anchor Samantha Heathwood discussed their salary details during interviews conducted by Getahead on Instagram, as seen in videos they shared online.

Rosanna informed the host that seasoned TV journalists like herself make an annual salary between $80,000 and $90,000, even though they have a dozen years of experience under their belt.

The commenter appears taken aback by the salary figure, suggesting they anticipated it to be significantly higher, around $180k annually.

’80 to 90 that’s s**t’ another blunt comment read while someone who viewed the clip else agreed.

That’s not enough! It should be at least 140! Is this a sign of greed or just the high cost of living?” This is another way to phrase the original statement.

* It’s incredibly meager; it wouldn’t sustain a family for her. Another individual expressed their surprise as well.*

* That’s barely enough to get by; if she has dependents, it won’t cut it. A second person added their astonishment.*

* It’s quite scanty; she can’t support a family on that amount. Yet another voice joined in, expressing surprise.*

Healthwood was posed the identical query, yet despite being compensated significantly higher than her contemporaries, she nonetheless left audiences puzzled.

Despite working in her profession for more than two decades, the journalist admitted that her earnings were significantly less than $200,000.

One commenter remarked, “She’s worthy of more than $200,000,” then went on to note that Karl Stefanovic from the Today Show earns significantly more.

‘I bet Karl doesn’t write, so how on earth he deserves more than 1 mil/year???’ they continued.

The focus is on ratings, and I sincerely wish that she’ll experience a significant success, whether it be from her writing or the ratings of her show.

others expressed their affection for Heathwood, with one individual commenting, ‘One of my top interviews you’ve conducted. It’s evident she has a deep passion for her profession!’

One individual stated: ‘Sam is exceptional as a news reader/reporter. She exhibits kindness, compassion, and gentleness during her interviews, especially during difficult moments.’

In 2021, Heathwood moved to Channel Seven following his tenure as a local news anchor with 9 News Queensland.

Samantha presented the 6pm Channel Nine news bulletins for both regional Queensland and Darwin.

On New Year’s Day, the stylish host sparked a buzz throughout the eastern suburbs when she publicly discussed her future plans with an old companion via social media, causing quite a stir.

Is it true that there are whispers about Sam rekindling her past relationship with the flirtatious pub owner and previous star of The Bachelorette, Stuart Laundy?

2025’s arrival finds me seizing the moment with an impromptu trip to Sydney, spending a magical night aboard a watercraft. A long-held dream realized, and what an unforgettable experience it was! I couldn’t help but share my exhilaration on Instagram.

‘Thank you @stulaundy44.’

However, cold water was quickly thrown over the chatter.

A friend of the hospitality expert shared with Daily Mail Australia that, while they are friends, when it comes to romantic interests, she falls beyond the age range he typically prefers, which is often younger women.

Kingsun meanwhile has over a decade experience across Queensland, Northern Territory and ACT.

Prior to her tenure at 7News Brisbane, which started approximately in 2020, she had previously worked for Nine News in both Darwin and Canberra, as well as for WIN News in Canberra and Townsville.
