A childhood photo of this Australian celebrity is circulating, and he looks very different than he does today as a member of a famous band.
A charming old photo reveals the celebrity as a young child, dressed in black pants and a red sweater.
A wide smile stretched across the young boy’s face as he happily lay down on the carpet at home.
The band first became famous when its members were just 15 years old. Their first album, *Frogstomp*, released in 1995, was a huge success worldwide, but the group eventually broke up in 2011.
Things came to an end when the trio performed at the Groovin’ The Moo music festival in 2010.
But can you guess who this Aussie star is?

That’s right, it’s Daniel Johns!
The 46-year-old has shared the throwback photo of himself to Instagram to celebrate his new tour.
He recalled a vivid sensory experience from before 1994: the aroma of Henny Penny chips, the soft texture of the shag pile carpet, and, most powerfully, the music from his parents’ record collection booming through large, wooden speakers.
Music has always been my greatest passion, and that hasn’t changed. I’m excited to be performing in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, and Melbourne soon! Check my bio for remaining ticket information.
After facing very public struggles with legal problems and substance abuse, the rock star has kept a low profile for the last few years.
In 2022, Johns released his second solo album, FutureNever, while in rehab.
The rock star, who has been going through a difficult time, released a statement through his record label, BMG, calling his new album ‘manic’ and saying he’s finally facing his past instead of avoiding it.
In late March 2022, Johns entered rehab following a traffic stop on the Pacific Highway near Newcastle, NSW, on March 23rd. He was found to have a blood alcohol level over three times the legal limit and subsequently pleaded guilty.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always saddened to hear about tragic accidents. Reports indicate that on March 23rd, a driver named Johns unfortunately crossed the center line on the Pacific Highway, near Newcastle, and collided with a van. It’s a stark reminder to always stay focused and aware while driving.
I was really struck by the news coming out of Raymond Terrace Local Court on April 11th, 2022. Apparently, Bryan Wrench, representing the defendant, entered a guilty plea on his behalf. It’s a significant development, and we’ll be watching how this unfolds.
The rock star, Johns, avoided prison time for driving under the influence. The judge decided that jail wouldn’t help him because he’s already struggling with personal issues.
He received a 10-month intensive corrections order, which means he’ll serve a sentence of up to two years in the community, but under close supervision by Community Corrections officials.
In addition to the fine, the celebrity lost their driving privileges for seven months. When they are allowed to drive again, they will be required to have a device installed in their car that prevents it from starting if alcohol is detected, for a period of two years.
Bryan Wrench, John’s lawyer, told the court that his client demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the charge. He highlighted that John successfully completed rehab, has remained sober since his discharge, and takes the matter very seriously.
On April 16, 2022, Johns shared a recording of a phone call—originally made while in rehab—on his Instagram. In the call, he discussed his struggles with alcohol and apologized for his actions.
He explained that he hadn’t fully understood how serious his drinking had become, and that he’d been using it to cope with unresolved emotional issues stemming from his childhood.

I know we’ve talked about some of this before, but there are deeper problems too. I relied on alcohol as if it were a solution, which was a mistake. I feel like I’ve messed up badly, and I sincerely apologize.
I fully accept responsibility for what happened on March 23rd. I sincerely regret my actions and am committed to making things right. I’m dealing with this situation privately and in a professional manner.
Soon after the accident in March, Johns revealed he’d been experiencing panic attacks and explained that he got lost while driving before the crash.
He explained that he’s continually working on his mental health, and like everyone, has both good days and bad days that he needs to navigate.
I’ve been having panic attacks for the past week. Last night, I got lost while driving and was in a car accident, but thankfully, everyone involved is alright.
I’ve been trying to cope with anxiety and depression through therapy, but I’ve also been using alcohol to feel better. I realize this isn’t a good long-term solution and isn’t helping my health.
I’m taking time away to focus on my health and well-being by entering a rehabilitation program. I’m not sure when I’ll be back, but I’m grateful for all your kindness and support.
The car accident happened shortly after Daniel publicly criticized his former Silverchair bandmates, claiming they hadn’t supported him during a serious illness in 2002.

As someone who understands how health can impact creativity, I was really touched to learn about the guitarist’s struggle. He recently shared that he was diagnosed with reactive arthritis – a painful joint inflammation – right as his band was releasing their album, Diorama. It must have been incredibly difficult to navigate that level of pain while also launching a big project, and I admire his resilience in sharing his story.
Johns, who was receiving treatment for both anxiety and anorexia, stated that he didn’t get the support he required and believed his band functioned more like a company than a close-knit group.
Daniel Johns’ former Silverchair bandmates, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou, recently shared the full story of what led to the band’s breakup.
In their memoir, Daniel Johns’ bandmates described how his on-again, off-again decisions about the band Silverchair caused them a lot of emotional stress. They said he would repeatedly break up the band, only to later reconsider.
The band played their last show at the Groovin’ The Moo festival in 2010, marking the end of their run.
Shortly after the performance, Ben received a strange call from Daniel, who only said, ‘It’s inevitable.’
Although Daniel didn’t directly state the band was finished, Ben and Chris later learned from their manager that it was over. A press release announcing they were taking an ‘indefinite break’ was planned for release to the media.
The musicians have said they had ‘drifted apart’ from Johns since Silverchair disbanded.
