On Saturday, Neve O’Neil had to lock herself in her dorm room at Brown University due to a mass shooting.
Nicole O’Neil’s daughter is currently a student at Brown University, an Ivy League school in Providence, Rhode Island.
Now the 19-year-old has broken her silence on the terrifying ordeal.
According to Neve, who spoke with The Daily Telegraph, the first gunshots rang out near the engineering building at approximately 4 p.m., and the situation unfolded rapidly.
As soon as she learned what was happening, she ran back to her dorm room and locked herself inside, staying there until she felt safe.
I didn’t realize anything was wrong until my friends called, worried about my safety and wanting to know where I was. It was a really frightening call, she explained.

While going through a very difficult time, her mother, who is a reality TV star, posted on social media to let everyone know her daughter was okay.
Neve is sheltering in a dorm room with two friends. They’ve blocked the door with the bed and are waiting quietly. The gunman is still out there, and it’s a terrible situation, she reported.
Nicole, 46, and her husband Adam share two daughters, Neve and Nawal.
She said what her daughter experienced was every parent’s worst nightmare.
Sending my daughters to college in the United States, with its different gun laws than Australia, is always a worry for me. It’s truly devastating to think about,” Nicole shared.
‘But you never think it’s going to happen… and now it’s actually happening.’
After the shooting, police have taken a person into custody as they investigate the deaths of two people and injuries to several others.
Early Sunday morning, police arrested a man in his 20s at the Hampton Inn in Coventry.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez didn’t say whether the man had any connection to the Ivy League, nor did he indicate the man was a suspect.
According to law enforcement, the shooter – who is from out of state – fired over 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun.
Police discovered a Glock handgun and a revolver in the hotel room where the man was staying.
As a longtime follower of the case, I understand that one of the firearms recovered was quite distinctive – it had a unique feature that set it apart. The other weapon was a standard gun, but it had been modified with a laser sight. That’s what the police have told us so far.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke with CNN, the suspect drove 17 hours from Wisconsin to reach the school. He is not a student there.
Shots were first reported around 4 p.m. inside a first-floor classroom in the Barus and Holley Engineering Building, where students were studying for their final exams.
Smiley explained that the shooter entered the building easily because the doors had been left unlocked for students who were testing.
Police responded to the scene around 4:22 PM, and a large number of officers quickly arrived. However, by the time they searched the building, the suspect had already fled onto nearby Hope Street.
Investigators obtained disturbing surveillance video during the trip, which showed the suspect quickly leaving the scene of the crime.
Panic spread across campus as students locked themselves in and quickly contacted family and friends. An emergency alert urged anyone nearby to either run away, find a safe hiding place, or fight back if they saw the attacker.
Social media was flooded with frightening images from students and teachers, showing how they barricaded doors with desks, chairs, and other belongings.
