Aussie Reality Star Awaits $9M Game Show Prize Months After Historic Win
This week, Australian reality star David Genat broke records by winning the biggest cash prize in the history of any game show on television.
The winner of Australian Survivor: All Stars in 2020, who is also an Australian Survivor star, was crowned champion on the US show Deal or No Deal Island.
The 45-year-old Australian model pocketed approximately AUD 9.2 million (USD 5.8 million) as her earnings from the NBC show.
Even though David stated that the check hasn’t arrived yet, he won the contest as shown in the footage from August of last year.
On Thursday, we managed to connect with David in Los Angeles after his remarkable victory was aired earlier in the week.
When queried about his emotions upon suddenly becoming a multimillionaire, David didn’t have any trouble coming up with a response.
David enthusiastically expressed, “I must admit, it feels extraordinarily satisfying! In fact, I would go so far as to say it feels exceptionally wonderful, almost incredibly good.
As a dedicated follower, I found myself grappling with the challenge of maintaining silence about my astonishing victory for a span of six long months. The reporter inquired whether this arduous task had proven to be a struggle.
Later on, David confessed that he had to stay silent for an extended period, as he was yet to receive payment, even though the filming of his episode was completed around eight months ago.
‘Negative, it’s actually longer. We shot it in August, which has turned out to be quite a wild ride, and I’m still waiting for my payment.’
The reality star was not concerned about his lack of payment, adding: ‘That’s a good thing.’
Nevertheless, David mentioned that he’ll closely monitor his bank account during the upcoming weeks.
David went on to say that he’d be watching his bank account like a hawk for the next few weeks.
Or:
In addition, David stated that he will meticulously observe his bank balance throughout the approaching weeks.
‘I think you’ve got 90 days from the final ep,’ he said.
‘But I will be checking my bank balance on Instagram every day, don’t you worry.’

In my world as a lifestyle aficionado, I can’t help but joke about the excitement that comes with anticipating payment – and wouldn’t it be a hoot if it arrived in the grand style of an oversized, humorous check, typically saved for such celebratory moments?
He playfully commented, ‘I’m not receiving a petty small check.’ Given that it was the biggest victory in reality show history, he suggested they should present an oversized check.
In addition, David ended the conversation with a chuckle, perched atop a dark vehicle while donning a pair of shades.
As he aloofly raised the tinted window he declared: ‘The money won’t change me.’
He proudly told the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, “I have a substantial wealth… I am like the Golden Deity of Deal or No Deal Island.
Nobody from Australia has achieved what I have or ventured into American reality TV before; this marks a new precedent.
Apart from being the first to achieve this feat, I also pocketed an unprecedented sum on an American reality TV show. I fervently wish that my success will pave the way for more Australian artists to emulate my journey.
David, the one who credited the abilities he acquired on Australian Survivor for his triumph in Deal Or No Deal Island, shared with NBC that he intends to use the winnings to provide for his four kids, whom he co-parents with Pearl Christensen.

David mentioned that it might not be wise to speak openly about the topic since others may hold him accountable for his words, but essentially, all of his children are approaching the age where they can drive.
‘So I’m probably gonna have to buy a fleet of new vehicles. I mean, hey, that’s what I’m gonna do.’
Apart from his other intentions, he casually shared, “I’m planning to treat myself to a new motorcycle since I have a soft spot for them. It will serve as a small indulgence.
In the year 2002, David initially gained recognition when he emerged victorious in the Search for a Supermodel competition, following a wager of $50 that he took up.
Eventually, he achieved global fame, gracing the pages of Vogue and Vanity Fair, with Mario Testino capturing his image particularly memorably.
David returned to reality TV by starring in Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders in 2019.
In 2021, he joined the cast of The Celebrity Apprentice, where he was fired in task 7.
2023 saw him broaden his professional horizons as he took on the role of host for a thrilling adventure reality show titled “Rush,” which was broadcasted on Channel Nine.
