As someone who has spent decades in the music industry, I can say with certainty that the rumors surrounding Katy Perry and Tina Turner are certainly intriguing. With Katy’s cryptic use of the word “chains,” it certainly piques one’s curiosity about a possible collaboration between these two powerhouse vocalists.

It has infuriated local Australian musicians to find out that the American pop sensation, Katy Perry, will be earning millions for her performance at the AFL Grand Final.

In the heart of Australia’s bustling music scene, where the rising cost of life is causing a dent, it’s rumored that this phenomenal artist, aged 39, stands to pocket a staggering $5 million for performing just five tracks at the mighty Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday. I can hardly contain my excitement as a fan!

On a Thursday, I couldn’t help but take to Facebook and express my dismay as a passionate fan. You see, here lies an issue that burns deep within me – a Melbourne artist speaking out against a sporting event that splurges millions on international talent, while local musicians like myself are struggling to secure gigs. It seems unfair, doesn’t it? The passion and talent we pour into our art should be recognized and supported, just as the sporting event does for its athletes.

In my latest social media update, I excitedly mentioned that I’ve just learned through the airwaves that the remarkable Katy Perry will be receiving an astounding 5 million dollars for performing five songs at tomorrow’s AFL Grand Final!

It seems more beneficial to allocate those funds elsewhere, given the current condition of our nation’s music industry.

Gathering on an open-air stage in Australia, everyone aligns, enjoying performances by local talents showcasing Melbourne’s vibrant music culture. However, I’m a bit puzzled about the “start factor” and receiving $5 million for performing just 5 songs? Could it be “kickoff event” or perhaps the cost per song is what you meant?

Fans rushed to comment on the musician’s post, generally expressing agreement that engaging the globally recognized pop star for the AFL Grand Final wasn’t a smart financial decision.

They suggested finding an artist who’s already established in the country to collaborate on a couple of songs. They mentioned it could potentially involve a significant sum of money.

As a passionate advocate for improvement, I wholeheartedly echo those sentiments. Initially, someone expressed their disbelief with the words, “That’s absolutely absurd!” Upon reflection, another concurred, saying, “Change is necessary; that’s simply outrageous!

A fourth commented: ‘If true, that is a f**king disgrace.’

It appears that a significant number of people might be drawn to observe an old cat feces enclosed in something, even if it’s urine-soaked, as long as it carries a sense of familiarity.

‘That’s a ridiculous number… and a wrong decision to not have an all Australian line up,’ someone else wrote of the $5million price tag.

Although some criticized the Australian dollars being spent on Katy’s upcoming show, others had a different perspective.

One individual remarked, “It seems likely that she’s handling her own sound crew, as well as expenses such as insurance and superannuation for each performer on stage.

It seems no current Australian act matches the popularity and allure that we’re familiar with, as I can’t think of a single exception. Even our most iconic acts are past their prime now.

A third noted: ‘To do that they would have to promote local music all year round. The don’t see any money in it. In this case, Americano pop is king.’

It’s been noted that the AFL Grand Final isn’t exclusive to Australia; it’s also viewed in various other nations. Consequently, it should be designed to resonate with a more global audience.

‘Let’s face it, most people going to the Grand Final couldn’t care less about Katy Perry but in the bigger picture it makes Australia look grand…’ they said.

‘I don’t agree with it and would prefer Aussie talent but I understand why the AFL do this… Sneaky way to promote our country I think.’

It’s said that Katy is expected to receive an impressive $5 million for her anticipated pre-game show at the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne this coming Saturday.

As an over-the-moon devotee, I’d put it this way: I’ve been given a mind-blowing fee to belt out five tunes for a deafening sea of 100,000 fans at the MCG, right before Sydney squares off against Brisbane – and let me tell you, the Herald Sun broke the news!

The large amount reportedly comes with certain conditions – instead of performing tracks from her latest 143 album, she’s expected to play a mix of older, popular tunes.

It’s been whispered that Australian pop icon, Tina Arena, may join forces with Katy for their spectacular performance during the major sports event.

Katy shared on the Sunrise morning show on Channel Seven that there will be an unexpected concert featuring one of my admired Australian musicians.

She’ll join me for a brief duet; I’ll also sing along with her for a short while. I’ve taken an oath not to reveal anything, kept in isolation, bound by restrictions, every bit of it.

Katy Perry’s choice of the word “chains” in her conversation sparked speculation among viewers that she might be alluding to collaborating with Tina Turner, who gained massive success in 1994 with a hit song titled “What’s Love Got to Do With It.

As the Australian live music industry grapples with staying viable in recent times, a number of large-scale homegrown festivals have had to call off events due to poor ticket sales.

The Birdsville Big Red Bash will not hold its festival in the year 2025, whereas Bluesfest, Australia’s oldest music festival, has announced its discontinuation following a 35-year run, with 2025 being their final performance.

Among the festivals canceled for this year are The Harvest Rock music festival, Spilt Milk, Splendour in the Grass, Groovin’ the Moo, ValleyWays, and Tent Pole Music Festival. These events have been postponed or replaced with virtual alternatives due to current circumstances.
