Aussie mega fan reveals how he blew a deposit on a house just to be close Kylie Minogue: ‘I don’t like to think of the amount of money I’ve spent’

A huge fan of Kylie Minogue has admitted that his strong admiration for the Australian pop singer has cost him roughly the same amount of money as a down payment on a house.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen people really invest in their passions! I recently spoke with Sydney-sider James Traill, 45, who shared that he’s spent thousands of dollars on Kylie concert tours and all sorts of related merchandise. It just goes to show how much joy these experiences can bring!

Traill, a barista by trade, has spent a significant amount of money attending in-person ‘meet-ups’ with the 57-year-old musician.

He admitted to the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday that he’d rather not calculate how much he’s spent on Kylie concerts and merchandise, estimating it’s likely enough for a down payment on an apartment. He said, “I don’t like to think of the amount of money I’ve spent on Kylie tours and merch; it probably amounts to a deposit on a flat.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been watching this trend for years now: the ‘VIP experience’ is *huge* globally. It’s become incredibly common for promoters and artists to offer packages where fans will pay – and I’m talking up to AU$5,000! – for things like a quick selfie and just a few precious moments with the celebrity they admire. It’s really changed how we experience live events, hasn’t it? Learn more about concert trends. It’s all about access!

Traill told the publication that he had met Kylie ‘a few times’ and it was ‘worth the expense’.

Way back in 2018, dedicated fans of Kylie Minogue spent as much as $1800 for a special package. This package included a ‘meet and greet’ with the singer of I Should Be So Lucky when she launched her Golden album.

On the Australian leg of her 2025 Tension tour, concert organizers were asking as much as $799.90 for the Padam Padam VIP package.

It gave fans access to premium seating, exclusive merch, a pre-show photo op and on-site VIP staff.

Meanwhile, Kylie made a low-key surprise arrival in Australia on Wednesday.

The music veteran looked chic in jeans and a beige jumper as she jetted into Sydney Airport.

The singer kept a low profile as she walked through the terminal with a beige cap and glasses.

She accessorised with a pair of white sneakers and held a cross-body bag.

Kylie looked remarkably youthful on her flight, seemingly without makeup. Her blonde hair was down and styled naturally.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that this pop star is finally back on Australian soil! It’s her first visit since February, and I know her fans are buzzing – she absolutely wowed everyone across the country with her incredible Tension tour. It’s going to be so exciting to see what she does next!

The sighting comes after Kylie was recently forced to cancel her show in Berlin due to illness.

The famous singer developed laryngitis in June, which unfortunately led to the cancellation of several concerts in Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Laryngitis is swelling of the larynx (your voice box), which usually causes your voice to become raspy or even disappear completely. It’s basically inflammation of the vocal cords, making it difficult to speak. Temporary laryngitis is often due to a cold or overuse of your voice.

It’s usually caused by a viral infection, vocal strain, or irritation of the vocal cords.

Hey everyone! So, after getting back on the road with a show in Finland last July, I wanted to hop on Instagram and just say thank you. Seriously, your support and understanding meant the world to me. It was amazing to be back performing, and I couldn’t have done it without you all! It really keeps me going. Feeling so grateful!

Kylie also took to social media to let her fans know that the concerts previously planned for Łódź, Kaunas, and Tallinn will not be happening on this tour, and won’t be moved to new dates.

Despite having to cancel her Berlin show originally scheduled for June 12, she did announce she’s rescheduled it for July 4. She had previously pulled the plug on the performance.

Kylie is the top-selling female artist from Australia ever, and ranks as the third best-selling artist in the UK.

She’s a relatively new face in the US, gaining recognition after her song Padam Padam became a viral sensation in 2023.
