Aussie comedy trio lash out at  Victorian Premier after second brazen robbery at their Melbourne properties in just three weeks: ‘Everyone feels unsafe’

The Australian comedy group Sooshi Mango is upset with Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan and is asking for stricter punishments after their Melbourne property was robbed for the second time in three weeks.

On Monday, three people told 7NEWS they were scared after someone broke into their Carlton office around 7 p.m. on Sunday. An unknown man broke a glass door to get inside, but didn’t steal anything.

Footage of the robbery, captured on CCTV, was posted to the group’s Instagram page and also shown on 7NEWS.

Troupe member Joe Salanitri said in a Monday interview that recent home invasions have left many people feeling uneasy and unsafe.

He advised Premier Allan to impose harsher punishments to deter those who are frightening residents.

Honestly, it just breaks my heart to hear Carlo, Joe’s brother, even saying this! He thinks if people knew there’d be real consequences for messing with Joe, they’d finally stop. Like, can you believe the nerve of some people? It’s just awful, and Carlo’s right – a serious penalty might be the only thing that’ll get through to them.

Their longtime friend and co-star, Andrew Manfre, said the brothers were shaken up by the daytime robbery, but thankful the robber didn’t find anything valuable.

‘We’re Italians. We don’t hide our cash anywhere that’s obvious,’ he joked.

The comedy group, famous for their popular videos and with over three million Instagram followers, shared a video on social media Sunday asking for help to find the person who broke into their office.

I was absolutely shocked to read that someone broke into their office just before 7pm tonight! They described the intruder with some really strong language – calling them a truly awful person, and honestly, I completely understand their anger and frustration. It’s just terrible to hear something like this happened to them.

He didn’t manage to steal anything because there was nothing worth taking. He did damage the door, which we’re having repaired, but thankfully, nothing major happened. We’re sharing this information because this individual attempted to rob the wrong place.

They explained that these criminals believe they can steal from honest, hardworking people without consequences. Their goal is to prevent them from exploiting even one more legitimate business, and if they succeed, they’ll consider their work done.

If Victoria had stronger laws, criminals might be less likely to break into homes and businesses during the day.

Salanitri criticized the government’s handling of the rising cost of living, pointing to a recent incident in December where someone stole his grocery delivery from Coles.

The comedian shared a video showing the woman taking two bags from his front door in Melbourne.

At first, Salanitri was angry about the theft, but he soon realized the woman probably had deeper problems she was dealing with.

‘I’m not upset at the woman, right, it’s obviously the system,’ he said.

‘She’s probably got kids. She might have followed the guy from Coles.

‘In the bag was candy canes and cards, so maybe she got them for her kids.’

Instead, Salanitri placed the blame on the ongoing cost of living crisis.

‘It’s sad that this is where we’re at, and it’s not her fault,’ he said.

Okay, so listen, I’ve been digging, really digging, and it’s insane. This isn’t just some small thing, it’s way bigger than anyone realizes. It actually leads right back to the core of the system, even the government itself. I feel awful even saying it out loud, but that’s where the truth is, I just know it.

‘She’s obviously struggling. She probably can’t give her (kids) gifts and has to go to this level.’

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thinking about keeping your home and holidays safe! I recently saw a video highlighting a growing concern, and it really resonated with me. Australia Post just put out a warning about ‘porch pirates’ – basically, people stealing packages left at your door. With Christmas coming up, they’re anticipating a rise in these thefts, so it’s a good time to be extra vigilant about your deliveries.

Sooshi Mango often creates humorous skits that playfully imitate Greek and Italian culture, frequently featuring characters like grandmothers and stereotypical dads in their popular online videos.

The videos quickly gained popularity, earning them millions of views and helping them build a large following of two million on TikTok and three million on Instagram.
