Aussie actor Simon Baker joins South Australian Liberal party in shock career move

Simon Baker is now working with South Australia’s Liberal party to support a charitable initiative.

Baker is supporting efforts to quickly gain World Heritage recognition for the Great Australian Bight.

Simon Baker, the actor known for his role in ‘The Mentalist,’ joined the Great Australian Bight Alliance on Tuesday to advocate for the protection of the Bight as a World Heritage site. He appeared at South Australia’s Parliament House to support their campaign, which has faced significant delays.

The experienced entertainer, now a passionate voice for the environment, shared that he was profoundly affected by both the local campaign to protect the Great Australian Bight and the recent damage caused by the harmful algal bloom.

The Great Australian Bight is a stunning, sweeping curve of coastline stretching across South Australia and Western Australia. It’s famous for its high cliffs and diverse ocean life.

Baker told The Advertiser he was encouraged by the recent cooperation between politicians from different parties.

I was really interested to see the efforts to protect the Great Australian Bight, but I’ve been deeply saddened by the algal bloom over the past year and how it’s affected local communities, he explained.

‘I think it’s beautiful if we turn our energy towards preservation and preserving something sacred.

It’s really encouraging to see the opposition leader publicly support having this place recognized as a World Heritage site.

Baker is in Adelaide to attend a showing of ‘Ocean,’ a new documentary featuring the voice of Sir David Attenborough.

He also met privately with Premier Peter Malinauskas and members of the Alliance during his visit.

Vincent Tarzia, the leader of the Liberal Opposition, and Sam Telfer, the Member for Flinders, were also present at Tuesday’s event to advocate for the Great Australian Bight to be recognized as a World Heritage site.

Throughout his career, actor Christian Baker has appeared in several popular films, such as The Devil Wears Prada, Breath, and L.A. Confidential.

The Daily Mail reported that he and Bridgette Clark, 31, have rekindled their relationship after a short separation.

The North Bondi resident is a few months younger than Stella Baker, who celebrated her 32nd birthday in August.

I’ve been following Baker’s career for years, and it was interesting to learn about how his relationship with Clark started. It happened not long after his split from Rebecca Rigg, who I remember fondly from shows like A Country Practice, Blue Heelers, and L.A. Doctors. It felt like a new chapter for him after that divorce.

Baker and Rigg were together for 29 years, and married for 22 of them. They lived in Los Angeles from 1995 to 2015, then moved back to Sydney before announcing their divorce in January 2021.

They announced at the time that they would remain friends, and their three children would always be their top priority.

Though they first met on a blind date in 1991, this couple later became known for playing love interests on the popular 1990s TV show, E Street.
