Aussie acting icon Bryan Brown reveals shocking injuries after terrifying fire ordeal: ‘I burnt my face and arms off’

Bryan Brown publicly shared details about the severe wounds he endured following a harrowing incident involving a devastating fire.

At the recent launch of Tropfest, the Australian actor revealed that prior to filming his popular show “Boy Swallows Universe,” he suffered severe burns on his face and arms during an unfortunate event.

This year, many fans took to social media to express their admiration for the 78-year-old’s muscular physique in the widely acclaimed Netflix series.

Alternatively, when questioned about the physical preparations for his role, Bryan admitted that his look wasn’t solely achieved through hours spent at the gym.

‘I shouldn’t tell you this, but I will,’ he began.   

‘About three months before I got caught up in a fire and burnt my face off and my arms off. 

By then, when I got around to working on it [“Boy Swallows Universe”], I had fully recovered health-wise, yet I’d lost all my hair and what remained had turned rather hard.

‘So I think the preparation was getting better.’

Bryan went on to assure that he had made a full recovery and was feeling fine after the accident.  

Viewers went wild over Bryan’s fit and youthful appearance in Boy Swallows Universe.

In the popular television show, Bryan portrays Slim Halliday, a character who faced charges related to the death of a taxi driver and managed to break out multiple times from Boggo Road Gaol, a well-known maximum-security prison.

In the initial episode, he demonstrated his well-defined physique wearing a blue tank top while instructing Felix Cameron on driving skills.

Bryan Brown continues to be incredibly attractive, as I’ve been noticing while watching Boy Swallows Universe. There’s even a photograph of him in my collection from a time he visited my workplace.

Based on Trent Dalton’s remarkable novel, “Boy Swallows Universe” narrates an exceptional story about the experiences of two brothers, Eli (Felix Cameron) and August (Lee Halley), as they navigate their way through the challenges of 1980s suburban life in Brisbane.

In January 2024, the entire series became available, and many Netflix viewers eagerly watched all the episodes (spanning more than seven hours) – praising the show for its aesthetic and intellectual qualities, often referring to it as ‘stunningly beautiful’ and ‘brilliant.’

Maintaining its distinctly Australian flavor, the show boasts a top-tier cast of Aussie actors, with Phoebe Tonkin portraying Eli’s mother, Frances Bell.

In 2018, the book stirred strong emotions among numerous Australians as it unfolded a touching narrative, parts of which were influenced by the author’s personal childhood memories.
