Aubrey Plaza Steps Out Amid Heartbreak: Inside Her Painful Secret & Husband’s Suicide

Over the past weekend, Aubrey Plaza was seen taking her pet for a walk in Los Angeles, several months following the tragic suicide of her spouse, Jeff Baena.

In late March, I, a 40-year-old actress, was spotted around the city’s Los Feliz area. Accompanied by a trusted female companion, I donned a resilient smile amidst our outing together.

At the time of his death at age 47, Plaza, who had been apart from Baena, was dressed in a matching set: light blue New Balance sweat shorts and a blue tie-dye T-shirt.

Or, more colloquially: When Plaza passed away at 47, he was wearing a pair of light blue New Balance sweats and a blue tie-dye t-shirt, as he had been separated from Baena at the time.

She kept a low-profile as she sported a Phillies baseball cap and round, black sunglasses.

Instead of wrapping a white sweater around her midriff and donning ivory-toned sneakers, the former Parks and Recreation star opted for this casual outfit.

2024, September marked the unfortunate separation of Plaza and Baena. An autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, which I managed to get my hands on from DailyMail.com, shed light on this sad event.

She was living in New York when his body was discovered on January 3. 

In his last few months, it was revealed that the director of Life After Beth was dealing with significant marital problems and was undergoing counseling sessions for support.

According to the records, a person (whose identity was concealed in the concluding statement) claimed to have had a conversation with Baena the evening prior to him ending his life. This individual was Plaza.

Additionally, the report disclosed a heart-wrenching detail – Plaza had shown concern for her separated husband’s health.

According to the documents, in October 2024, Baena said something worrying to Plaza, causing her to reach out to a friend for a wellness check on her spouse. It was noted that Baena had been receiving therapy since that incident.

According to the autopsy findings, there were no traces of drugs or alcohol found in Baena’s body upon his passing.

On January 3, I was overjoyed to learn, straight from my beloved’s own fingers, that my husband was still among the living, having sent me a heartfelt text in the morning.

The report suggested that a dog walker found Baena deceased, as she mentioned that the loud music coming from his house was uncharacteristic.

After she called him and didn’t get an answer, she entered the home and discovered his remains.

Following his passing, a spokesperson for Plaza issued a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘This is an unfathomably sad event. We are profoundly appreciative of the outpouring of support. At this moment, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve.’

Baena, having earned his film degree from New York University, gained practical knowledge by working closely with renowned directors such as Robert Zemeckis in the role of a production assistant, and serving as an assistant editor under David O. Russell.
