Aubrey Plaza sizzles in very sheer gown at Joan Rivers gala benefiting late comic’s favorite charity

As I reflect upon the extraordinary gathering held in honor of Joan Rivers, a woman who not only paved the way for female comedians but also left an indelible mark on comedy as we know it, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and admiration.

At the New York City gala for Dead Funny: An All-Star Tribute to Joan Rivers, Aubrey Plaza radiated charm and allure on the red carpet on Thursday night.

The party took place at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, and its purpose was to raise funds for Joan’s preferred charity, God’s Love We Deliver, a cause she dedicated much of her later years to.

Aubrey, having been acquainted with the late comedy legend, added a touch of glamour from Hollywood to the event while wearing a shimmering, semi-transparent dress.

In a daring outfit adorned with delicate lace details, the 40-year-old actress from White Lotus proudly showcased her stunning physique.

With her long, lavishly curly hair flowing freely, the former star of Parks and Recreation emphasized her radiant skin tone by applying makeup.

Joan played a significant role with God’s Love We Deliver since its establishment in the ’80s New York, providing meals for individuals battling AIDS who were nearing their end.

She was among the initial celebrities who advocated for AIDS research, long before it gained widespread notoriety due to Elizabeth Taylor’s involvement.

Over time, God’s Love We Deliver broadened its scope, extending its services beyond those affected by HIV/AIDS, and now delivers meals to countless individuals confined at home due to various illnesses.

Joan typically devoted a portion of each Thanksgiving by hand-delivering food to the ill on behalf of a charity, as portrayed in the 2010 documentary “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.

She died just over a decade ago, on September 4, 2014, after suffering complications from a routine endoscopy. 

I was part of the bustling crowd at the recent gala, where I had the pleasure of seeing Luann De Lesseps, a former star from The Real Housewives Of New York City. She turned heads in a daring PVC cocktail dress, showcasing her toned abs for all to see.

Luann had a pleasant interaction with comedian Randy Rainbow, who is now famed for his politically progressive comedy tunes.

Several well-known comedians graced the red carpet, offering a humorous vibe. There, Tiffany Haddish was spotted chatting with Nikki Glaser.

Despite their bitter feud during her lifetime, Chelsea Handler attended the memorial gala in a striking, wine-red dress adorned with ample elegance.

Sandra Bernhard paired her understated black jacket and blouse with a shimmering pair of sequins pants, evoking the spirit of the 1980s, a time when she started gaining fame as a comedian.

At the event, Tom Cruise’s spouse, Rita Wilson, added a dash of Malibu elegance with her glimmering chrome and silver dress adorned with tassels.

Rachel Brosnahan, known for her breakout role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which draws inspiration from trailblazing comediennes such as Joan and Phyllis Diller during the 1950s and ’60s, was among the illustrious attendees that night.

comedy artist Michelle Buteau donned a shimmering, voluminous light-blue gown, whereas model Alexa Goodrow opted for an off-white lace jumpsuit.

Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, was pictured alongside Caroline Hirsch, the pioneering figure who established the iconic New York comedy venue Carolines On Broadway. Notably, this establishment shut its doors in 2022.
