Aubrey Plaza Shines at Cannes with Co-Star Margaret Qualley Amidst Personal Tragedy

On a Saturday in Cannes, France, Aubrey Plaza was accompanied by Margaret Qualley during a photo session for their new film, titled “Honey Don’t!

In a chic appearance, the forty-year-old actress walked hand-in-hand with her fellow actor Margaret, aged thirty, both exuding style in black see-through blouses, at the Palais des Festivals during the Cannes Film Festival.

Aubrey paired her elegant outfit with a compact black-and-white plaid miniskirt, emphasizing her slender, well-defined legs.

She made herself taller by wearing naked open-toed high heels, then completed her style with a tiny set of golden hoop earrings and fashionable black sunglasses.

For today, the actress from The White Lotus opted for a full-bodied hairstyle on her dark locks, which she paired with a subtle makeup look to highlight her innate charm.

While her fellow actor Margaret exuded casual elegance in a sleek black halter-neck mini dress, complete with an open back.

The Substance star added inches to her height with a pair of pointed black slingback heels.

To add even more style to her appearance, Margaret adorned herself with a chic black-and-gold watch, tiny gold hoop earrings, and a sleek pair of black sunglasses.

She styled her brunette tresses in a slick bun as she caught up with her close pal Aubrey.

At the gathering, the pair were additionally accompanied by Ethan Coen, the director of Honey Don’t, who was 67 years old at the time and presented a relaxed demeanor during the occasion.

He wore a striped orange shirt and black pants, flashing a smile for the cameras while standing next to the duo.

At the event, Tricia Cooke, aged 59, and Charlie Day, 49, were present too. Both looked sharp and professional in tailored suits while posing with their fellow actors.

Or more informally:
Tricia Cooke (59) and Charlie Day (49) joined the gathering, looking sharp in power suits alongside their co-stars.

Both sentences convey the same information but offer different tones and styles to cater to diverse readers.

The movie, which premiered at the festival on Friday evening, is set to hit theatres on August 22.

In the quirky mystery, titled “Margaret,” our protagonist, Honey O’Donahue, plays a local detective. Unwittingly, she becomes ensnared in a bizarre series of unexplained fatalities.

Meanwhile, Aubrey stars as a police officer working with O’Donahue (Margaret).

As a devoted admirer, I can’t contain my excitement as I eagerly anticipate Aubrey’s return to the silver screen for the first time since her husband Jeff Baena’s tragic and unexpected passing. Months have passed, but Aubrey’s talent and charisma will undoubtedly continue to captivate us all.

Back in March, it came to light that Aubrey and Jeff had quietly parted ways about four months prior to Jeff’s unexpected suicide at the age of 47.

A medical examiner’s autopsy report from Los Angeles County, obtained by DailyMail.com, showed that the filmmaker and actress had parted ways in September of the previous year. At the moment when his body was found on January 3rd, she was residing in New York City.

The report outlined that in his last months, the Life After Beth director was facing marital troubles and was undergoing therapy sessions.

The investigator mentioned in the records that the individual later identified as Aubrey (previously unnamed) claimed they conversed with Jeff the evening preceding his demise.

Additionally, the report showed a sad truth: Aubrey was worried about the health of her separated spouse.

In October 2024, Baena said something troubling to Plaza, leading her to contact a friend for a wellness visit to her spouse.

‘Baena had been attending therapy since that event,’ the documents stated.

According to the medical investigator, no traces of drugs or alcohol were found in Jeff’s body when he passed away.

On January 3, it was confirmed that Aubrey knew her husband was still alive, since he had texted her earlier in the day.

As a diligent observer, I stumbled upon an unexpected sight one day. A peculiar noise, unlike any music I’d heard before, seemed to be coming from Jeff’s residence. Upon investigating, it turned out that this unusual sound led me to the discovery of his unfortunate situation.

Upon calling the writer and director but not receiving a response, she decided to enter their house and found their body inside.

According to a spokesperson from the Plaza, this incident is beyond comprehension. We are extremely thankful to those who have extended their support. At this difficult moment, we kindly ask for privacy.

After earning his film degree from New York University, Jeff gained valuable experience working closely with prominent directors. He served as a production assistant for Robert Zemeckis and an assistant editor for David O. Russell, which provided him with hands-on education in the industry.

In my professional journey, one pivotal moment occurred when I collaborated on the groundbreaking existential comedy, “I Heart Huckabees,” which became a cult classic in 2004 alongside Russell.

Approximately ten years passed, and then he made his directorial debut with the 2014 movie Life After Beth, a mix of romance, horror, and comedy. In this film, Aubrey played a significant role.

They reunited for 2016’s Joshy and 2017’s The Little Hours, which Aubrey also produced.

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but gush about Jeff’s creative partnership with the brilliant Alison Brie. She graced our screens in The Little Hours and took center stage in not one, but two of his last masterpieces – Horse Girl (2020) and Spin Me Round (2022), both of which she co-wrote. What a dynamic duo they make!

In 2011, Aubrey and Jeff started a romantic relationship, and by 2018, Aubrey admitted to Page Six that their shared passion for films played a significant role in bringing them together, eventually leading to their collaborative and love-based ventures.

In 2021, she publicly acknowledged that they had secretly gotten married a year prior. This revelation was made during the promotion of the movie “Spin Me Round,” where she played a supporting character. She hinted at their marital status when she referred to Jeff as her “dear husband” on Instagram.

Aubrey has been making tentative steps to get back into the world after Jeff’s devastating death.

For the first time since Jeff passed away a month ago, the actress graced the public stage, as she introduced musical artists Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard during the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special.

In a touching gesture, she paid a quiet yet poignant homage to her deceased spouse by donning a tie-dye shirt, which held symbolic significance as it was related to one of his cherished pastimes and their wedding.
