Aubrey Plaza Makes Triumphant Return After Husband’s Tragic Suicide—See Her New Dark Comedy

Aubrey Plaza is appearing in her first role since husband Jeff Baena’s death in January.

In the upcoming movie “Honey Don’t!”, the 40-year-old actress will be joining forces with Margaret Qualley. On Wednesday, Focus Features unveiled the film’s trailer.

The screenplay for the darkly humorous film was written by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke. It tells the story of detective Honey O’Donahue, played by Qualley, as she probes into a series of suspicious deaths linked to a controversial church.

In the opening moments of the teaser, Plaza stands out prominently as he collaborates with Officer O’Donahue.

In addition, Chris Evans takes on the role of a morally questionable religious leader who is central to the movie’s probe.

The movie is slated for an August 22 release.

This year, it was discovered that Aubrey’s spouse, Jeff, tragically ended his life at their residence in Los Angeles.

Back in September of 2024, I found myself parting ways with my partner. It wasn’t until the subsequent examination by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, as reported by DailyMail.com, that the truth about our situation was made clear.

The White Lotus star was in New York when his body was discovered on January 3.

In his last few months, the director of Life After Beth was going through challenging times in his marriage, and he was undergoing counseling.

It also stated that Plaza had been concerned for her estranged husband’s wellbeing.

Immediately following his passing, a spokesperson for Plaza issued a statement expressing, ‘This is an inconceivable sorrow. We are profoundly thankful for the kindness shown by all who have extended their support. Kindly allow us solitude as we navigate through this difficult period.’

In the wake of Jeff’s passing, Aubrey has deleted her Instagram account.

Despite feeling nervous or apprehensive, she managed to maintain an air of confidence and professionalism, effectively presenting herself during the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live in February.

Despite her mourning process, Aubrey is anticipated to take on a role in Zach Woods’ upcoming production titled “The Accompanist.

It will also star child actress Everly Carganilla and Hollywood heavyweight Susan Sarandon.

This week, Deadline announced some exciting news about me. They shared that the talented actor from Parks and Recreation has been cast in a new role. He’ll be portraying a welfare officer tasked with investigating a shocking claim made by a child – she alleges that her grandfather came perilously close to endangering her family’s lives. As a dedicated follower, I can hardly wait to see this intriguing story unfold!

‘After 9-year-old Emily (Carganilla) unintentionally reveals to her school nurse that her grandfather with dementia nearly endangered them, new child-protection worker Sarah is dispatched to their home for an investigation.’

In a turn of events that left me reeling, a botched rescue attempt ended with Emily being entrusted to the care of an enigmatic, eccentric, humorously quirky, and unforeseeable woman named Sylvia (Sarandon).

Her inherent kindness and joyful nature are made complex due to the recurring ghosts from her past that trouble her.
