Aubrey Plaza really is bumping along just nicely.
The 41-year-old actress showed off her growing baby bump while walking her dog in New York City on Friday, remaining calm and collected despite being pregnant.
She wore a simple black tank top that highlighted her growing baby bump, a comfortable and flattering choice for a pregnant woman.
Plaza is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Christopher Abbott, 40.
She announced to Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes in April, ‘I’m pregnant!’
Plaza shared that she and her dog both had doctor’s appointments today. They are both undergoing scans—she had hers already, and her dog is getting one right now. She emphasized that she wasn’t joking.
She first had an ultrasound, and then I did too. We discovered there’s a baby on the way, she shared.
With her usual playful wit, she quipped, ‘It’s practically dressed for the occasion – it’s got a covering and a tiny hat! I think it’s ready to be born.’
When asked how she felt about becoming a mother for the first time, the Parks and Recreation actress simply said, ‘Yes, absolutely! I’ve always been curious about what motherhood is like.’
The baby, whose gender has not been revealed, is due in the fall, People previously reported.
‘It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,’ a source told the publication.
The couple first met and fell in love while performing together on Broadway, and now they say they feel incredibly grateful.
News began circulating in April that Plaza was pregnant, and the actress’s representative later confirmed the report.
Most people recognize Abbott as the sometimes-boyfriend of Marnie, played by Allison Williams, in Lena Dunham’s popular HBO show, Girls.
The pair initially collaborated in 2019 on the independent film Black Bear. In it, they each portrayed two characters: performers and filmmakers attempting to create a movie in a remote and unsettling lakeside home.
The inexpensive thriller debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 and received very positive reviews. Many critics specifically praised Aubrey Plaza’s performance as one of her strongest yet.
In 2023, she reunited with Abbott, appearing alongside him in a new production of John Patrick Shanley’s play Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. The Off-Broadway revival played through January 2024.
This announcement follows a difficult year for Plaza, marked by the unexpected loss of her husband, Jeff Baena, who passed away by suicide.
Baena’s body was discovered in January 2025 after he took his life at age 47.
According to a medical examiner’s report from Los Angeles County obtained by DailyMail.com, Plaza and the screenwriter had split up in September 2024.
She was living in New York when he was found in Los Angeles on January 3.
Oh my gosh, last August I was completely glued to Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast, and it just broke my heart hearing Rashida Jones talk about her grief. She’s amazing in Parks and Rec, of course, but getting a glimpse into what she’s been going through…it was so raw and real. I felt like I was right there with them!
I’m truly happy to be here with you right now. I’m doing okay and present in this moment.
I’m thankful for everything, and generally doing alright, though each day still presents its challenges.
