Aubrey Plaza, who is expecting a baby, looked happy and relaxed while walking her dog in New York City on Saturday.
The 41-year-old actress, who previously starred in Parks and Recreation and is currently pregnant, displayed her growing baby bump while wearing a relaxed outfit of a striped long-sleeved shirt and comfortable pants.
She paused outside the Tribeca store to talk with a friend, gently touching her baby bump as they chatted.
It seems Plaza is doing well and enjoying life again after a difficult time following her husband’s passing. She was spotted shopping, carrying a bag that suggests she was treating herself.
Plaza’s publicist announced earlier this week that she and her partner, Christopher Abbott, are expecting their first child.
The pair had been friends and worked together on the 2020 movie Black Bear and an Off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. They began dating in July 2025.
I was so surprised to learn about Plaza and Zach’s relationship! It seems they connected around six months after Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena, passed away. They had actually been separated since September 2024, but it’s lovely to see her finding happiness again.
Plaza and Abbott have kept their relationship under the radar for the most part.
On Thursday, the couple was seen together for the first time since announcing their pregnancy, attending the afterparty for the opening night of the Broadway show, Death of a Salesman.
People magazine reported earlier this week that the couple is expecting a baby this fall.
‘It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year. They feel very blessed,’ the source said.
Aubrey’s husband, Baena, who was a screenwriter and film director, sadly died by suicide in January 2025. He was 47 years old, and they had been estranged at the time of his death.
Plaza recently shared that her grandmother taught her to embrace joy and keep moving forward, a lesson that ultimately inspired her children’s book, Luna And The Witch Throw A Halloween Party.
Aubrey Plaza shared on the Today show that her mother instilled in her a lifelong belief in finding joy and persevering through challenges. She explained that this positive outlook heavily influenced her new book.
I grew up surrounded by strong, independent women on both sides of my family, and this is my way of honoring them all.
The actress previously admitted every day has been a ‘struggle’ since her ex’s death.
His body was discovered at his home in Los Angeles, California by his dog walker.
When Amy Poehler asked Aubrey Plaza how she was doing on the ‘Good Hang’ podcast, Plaza replied that she felt happy to be talking with her in that moment. She added that, generally, she’s doing okay and managing well.
I’m thankful for everything, and generally doing alright, though each day still presents its challenges.
She compared her grief to The Gorge, insisting it felt like a ‘giant ocean of awfulness.’
Plaza admitted the comparison was silly, even joking at first, but clarified she was being serious.
‘Did you see that movie The Gorge? It’s like [an] alien movie or something with Miles Teller.
The movie features a dangerous setting: a narrow path between two cliffs with a deep gorge below. The gorge is filled with monstrous creatures trying to attack the characters.
Plaza described watching something that deeply resonated with her, explaining it felt like a representation of her own experience with grief, or what grief might feel like for others.
I’m always aware of a huge sense of negativity, like a dark and overwhelming feeling. Sometimes I just feel the urge to give in to it and fully experience it.
It’s funny, sometimes I just find myself staring at it, completely lost in thought. Other times, I desperately try to distract myself and look away. But honestly? It’s always on my mind, always present, no matter what I do.
