As a woman who has spent a significant portion of my life in the music industry, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened and frustrated by the ongoing saga between Diddy and Cassie. Having worked with numerous artists myself, I know firsthand how crucial it is for artists to have a safe space to evolve without fear or obligation.

After many years, Aubrey O’Day experiences a sense of validation following her persistent vocalizations against her previous mentor, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

On Monday, the singer of Danity Kane, who is now 40 years old, voiced her sentiments on social media following the indictment of her former employer, Diddy, by a grand jury for alleged crimes involving sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution.

Officials from Homeland Security subsequently apprehended the renowned rapper at the Park Hyatt hotel, centrally located in Manhattan.

As a lifestyle advisor, I’ve been closely following the recent developments involving Diddy. Despite denying the allegations against him, he presented a $50 million bond to secure his release, but unfortunately, the judge declined his bail request on Tuesday. This means that he will remain in custody until the commencement of his trial.

In a post on X, Aubrey described the legal action as a ‘win for women’ across the globe.

In a post on X on Monday, O’Day expressed that the role of Justice is to bring closure and offer room for starting anew. Regrettably, this opportunity has not been extended to women.

She expressed her sense of affirmation, stating, “Today’s victory is a triumph for women everywhere, not just myself.” She went on to say, “Long-overdue changes are finally taking place.

At the crack of dawn on a Tuesday, I found myself drawn to a tweet by esteemed journalist Yashar Ali. In it, he pointed out that for quite some time, O’Day has been attempting to shed light on Diddy’s abusive character and cautioning the public about his dangerous tendencies.

He added that O’Day’s ‘courage’ led her to allegedly be ‘bullied, terrorized, and threatened.’

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but echo what O’Day expressed: “Diddy took it a step further with me,” she said, albeit without elaborating. However, I’m grateful to you for giving her voice the platform it deserves.

In the latter part of Tuesday’s morning, O’Day seemed somewhat irritable when responding to an account that requested her to ‘expedite her speech.’

She asserted that she was concentrating on avenues that were more probable to result in action against the rapper, as opposed to just making posts on social media platforms.

She opted to communicate with individuals capable of shaping justice as I desired. I’ve been talking, and I never undervalued this fact. This is what she penned down.

Ever since O’Day was let go from the girl group Danity Kane, which Diddy created during the making of his reality show Making The Band 3, her crusade to reveal the supposed crimes and wrongdoings he is accused of has been ongoing.

Previously this year, O’Day asserted that the hip-hop tycoon attempted to purchase her confidentiality by transferring back her music publishing ownership, previously held by Bad Boy Records, much like how he handled similar situations for other artists under his label.

She viewed the offer as an attempt to keep her from speaking out against him.

In June, the singer proudly announced that she quickly stood by Cassie, Diddy’s ex, following her allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

In an interview with Us Weekly, O’Day expressed that she was the pioneer who took a public stance, and she felt it was too quiet or less vibrant compared to her preference.

In November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against the rapper, asserting that he exerted power and mistreated her for more than ten years. Diddy strongly refuted all accusations before resolving the court case the following day.

At the time, O’Day took to social media to share a message of solidarity to Cassie.

In the first five minutes of viewing it, I found myself losing interest due to Cassie being a victim who demonstrates immense courage, as O’Day explained to the media source.

The artist posted on Instagram in November, saying: ‘I’ve been trying to tell you all for years. Sending my best wishes to the queen @cassie.’

According to O’Day, she was dismissed by Diddy because she wasn’t prepared to fulfill the requirements beyond her professional skills. It wasn’t about her talent, but rather other aspects.

She shared with Us Weekly: “There’s such a variety in the tales, from one extreme to another – it’s not all the same picture.

‘Not every situation this man has been in looks the same, but hers truly broke through the wall. We don’t know why. This one broke through.’

She continued by expressing gratitude towards Cassie for sharing her story publicly.

In the music industry, it’s crucial to bring about some modifications. What’s needed is a nurturing environment for artists to grow freely, without any pressure or constraints imposed by others affecting their careers. This environment should be devoid of any influence that could potentially burden an artist or dictate the course of their career.

In May, several months following the resolution of their legal disagreement, a video allegedly depicting the rapper from 2016 physically attacking Cassie resurfaced.

Diddy appeared to apologize on social media, seeming to show regret over actions deemed unforgivable, without specifically mentioning Cassie in the statement.

Initially, O’Day used social media to assert that Diddy hadn’t offered an apology directly to Cassie. However, he had issued an apology, though it was more of a public one, addressing the broader issue of his actions.

According to O’Day’s writing, he expressed that he feels disgusted with himself both now and in the past.

However, it seems that his feelings of disgust weren’t strong enough for him to refrain from labeling Cassie a liar and denying everything… Let’s leave divine intervention and compassion aside, as we both understand they are not involved in this situation.

In an interview with Us Weekly, O’Day expressed her thoughts about the apology video as follows: ‘Anybody who makes such statements, whether they are shared publicly or broadcast, comes across as foolish. Just stop it.’

“Could you repeat what you just said? ‘You look foolish, cut it out. This isn’t a joke – there are actual victims here. Everyone understands this.’ Now that you’ve seen the video, I’d like to make sure we’re all on the same page.

If you believe that’s the last time you’ll encounter that, it’s up to you to remain within your realm of unawareness. (or: It’s your choice to continue living in your state of unknowing if you think that’s the final instance of that occurrence.)

In September 2023, O’Day stated that Diddy recently requested her and their past Danity Kane group members to agree to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).

In my case, being close friends with women, I advised everyone in our circle, “Definitely reject this offer,” according to O’Day.

Diddy (formerly known as Puff Daddy) is valued at around a billion dollars, having played a significant role in the business side of hip-hop during the ’90s.

Over time, he became a highly recognized music producer among his contemporaries, collaborating with artists like The Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige.

Diddy founded Bad Boy — his record label — which Cassie was signed to in 2006.

Cassie has since married Alex Fine and has two children with him.
