Atomfall Gameplay Guides You Through the Idyllic Green Quarantine Zone

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the apocalyptic wastelands of Fallout to the eerie silence of The Last of Us. Yet, the new Atomfall gameplay video has caught my attention like none other. The post-nuclear setting of the North of England, inspired by the real-life Windscale disaster, is a chilling yet intriguing concept that immediately piqued my curiosity.

A fresh five-minute gameplay trailer titled “Atomfall” has been unveiled by Rebellion, showcasing the game’s backdrop set in the northern part of England, depicting a fictional portrayal of the aftermath of the actual 1957 Windscale disaster – the most severe nuclear mishap that ever occurred in the UK.

In the five years that have passed, you find yourself in a fictionalized quarantine zone, surrounded by picturesque landscapes featuring rolling hills, valleys, caves, and an English village. Despite its picturesque charm, this environment can be treacherous and holds a hidden, ominous secret.

Task: Discover the events at Windscale by exploring military camps, deserted subterranean shelters, and enigmatic Pagan structures reminiscent of the Wicker Man. Utilize a metal detector to uncover hidden truths, engage with peculiar villagers, and decipher the motives of secretive factions.

Since the calamity occurred, things have taken a turn for the worse within the quarantine zone, and its inhabitants are far from ordinary. Equipped with both ranged and close combat weapons, you’ll have to battle for survival when Atomfall debuts in March 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will be accessible day one through Xbox Game Pass.
