Asuka Analysis and Theorycraft – Should you Pull?

As a seasoned player who has spent countless hours battling through the intricate world of Nikke, I can confidently say that Asuka is a game-changer! Her high ATK and attack damage make her an absolute powerhouse, especially when paired with Crown and Tia. The addition of Blanc to the team allows for even more effective buffs, making Crown more versatile while Modernia provides DPS buffs, particularly against fire weak bosses.

Note: This was made first day of release of Asuka. Inaccuracies will be fixed after more testing.

Overview

  • Extremely strong DPS potential via insane self-buffs, with her attack buff being permanent due to her burst being able to proc it.
  • Provides a consistent strong buff to teammates despite being a DPS. this buff is locked to fire coded Nikkes, fortunately Nikkes that are fire coded are relevant to the current meta (Alice, Modernia, Herself)
  • Gains Permanent Pierce on teams with cooldown reductions. Pierce being one of the strongest buffs in Nikke
  • Simply a much better Scarlet
  • MUST pull (Almost power creeping already)

Basic Attack Information

Assault rifles tend to perform poorly because they have relatively small base attack multipliers (13.65%) and lower accuracy, resulting in fewer critical hits. These critical hits are crucial as they offer a significant damage boost (2x or more) that differs based on the specific weapon or Nikke.

In my gaming world, when I’m battling against Asuka, I notice her normal attacks pack quite the punch – they’re significantly stronger than most characters, second only to Scarlet’s.

Asuka Analysis and Theorycraft – Should you Pull?

However, that doesn’t mean Asuka deals less damage than Scarlet at all, quite the opposite. This is due to her amazing self-buffs that will be explained below.

Skills

Asuka Analysis and Theorycraft – Should you Pull?

Skill 1 – Competitiveness

Initiates during combat. Impacts only the character.

Initially, she possesses an extremely powerful boost. Currently, not many enemies have shields, but exceptions are Mat H variants, Union Raid Bosses, and possibly the next Solo raid boss. However, even though it’s quite specific, a sixfold damage increase against any future shield-bearing raptures would undeniably be beneficial for her diverse skill set.

Her Attack boost is always active because it can continuously be renewed through Asuka’s burst ability. It triggers during recovery periods allows for life drain after each burst. This implies that the duration won’t reset after subsequent shots. Luckily, the duration of her ATK ▲ boost is long enough to prevent this from being a problem when using a cooldown Nikke in the team.

Skill 2 – Assault Tactics

Triggers upon engaging Full Burst mode. Boosts its own power level when in Shield defense state.

Skill 2 also has amazing team buffs that are proc’d every full burst.

Her damage against strong element buff shouldn’t be an issue to proc as there are increasing amounts of Nikkes that can provide shields to the entire team (Tia, Crown, Rei Ayanami) and all listed units can work well with her

In simpler terms, Asuka’s ability to boost the damage dealt to the Core is nearly equal to what Naga can offer, and this is extremely powerful for a Damage Per Second (DPS) unit. This buff results in approximately a 20%-20% increase in total DPS when attacking the Core.

What is Damage as Strong Element and Core damage? (Newbies)

In simpler terms, the damage dealt against an enemy element you’re vulnerable to is activated when using a Nikke in combat. You can find this information by checking the enemy stats on the battlefield details. This bonus effect is multiplicative, but it becomes additive when equipped with Overload gear.

Asuka Analysis and Theorycraft – Should you Pull?

Core damage occurs when the player hits the core of an enemy, which is usually in the center of the body of raptures accompanied with red lights. Auto aim in the settings should lock on into these Cores.

The damage bracket for Core damage is:

1 (base damage) multiplied by (1 + 0.5 (full burst modifier) + 0.3 (range advantage) + 1 or more (core damage) + 0.5 (basic critical damage multiplier))

Among numerous variables enclosed within parentheses, Asuka possesses sufficient buff to yield approximately a 20% increase in overall Damage Per Second (DPS).

Burst – Piercing Bullets

1. Boosts one’s own power.

✨Obtaining the “Full Uptime Pierce” in Nikke is practically essential for a character to be considered broken. This ability, as seen with Asuka, amplifies damage when there are multiple targetable sections, making it so that each bullet strikes more than once per shot.

Asuka increases her own attack damage, which should not be mixed up with the attack boost from her skill 1. These enhancements are distinct and their effects multiply each other. This bonus is what makes characters like Crown, Tia, and Summer Rosanna stand out. However, Asuka can amplify her attack power by an impressive 150%, far beyond the typical 30-50%.

In simpler terms, Asuka’s HP regeneration should be sufficient to keep her alive unless the attacks from Rapture are excessively strong. However, careful positioning and use of cover are crucial. This means that Asuka can potentially be included in teams without healers, especially in situations where she is targeted as the character with the highest attack (Solo Raid).

Apart from the impressive accuracy boost she receives, Asuka’s attack power is significantly amplified too! This not only addresses the typical flaws in assault rifles but also pushes her abilities to an extraordinary level.

Campaign

It’s difficult to predict her exact role in the overall campaign strategy, but she is likely to be very effective. Asuka’s Pierce ability and self-buffs make her an excellent damage dealer against elite or boss Raptures. She is expected to perform well if the player can quickly switch between targets manually.

I’ve noticed that Asuka synergizes exceptionally well with high-tier campaign clearers, thanks to her ability to boost core damage and enhance her own elemental damage.

Meta Fire Element Campaign Clearers

Modernia,Alice

As someone who has spent years working in various team structures, I can confidently say that element-based teams have proven to be more impactful in my professional journey. Coming from a background where I was part of generalist teams, I can attest to the fact that specialized teams for campaigns are a significant stride forward. This approach allows for a deeper understanding and expertise within each team member, leading to better results and a more efficient workflow. It’s like having a well-oiled machine instead of a group of individuals working independently. The synergy and collaboration that comes from this structure have been instrumental in driving success in my projects.

The primary problem when using Asuka in a campaign is her lack of a burst generator. This issue can be resolved by adding Red Hood, Alice, Centi, Nihilister, or Anis to her team, as they provide burst battery generation.

Campaign Burst Generation Batteries

Red hood,Alice,Anis,Centi,Nihilister

In a story or game context, it’s essential to incorporate rapid-fire generators for seamless, continuous rotations during high-intensity battle sequences, particularly when dealing with significant deficits in defensive capabilities at high CP levels.

Modernia Core Team (Fire Team)

Liter,Crown,Modernia,Alice,Asuka

A formidable duo, excelling particularly against content that is vulnerable to fire. Utilize the Modernia Burst for clearing groups of enemies, followed by deploying either Alice’s or Asuka’s Burst against the boss waves.

Hyper-carry Modernia (Red Hood B1 Variant)

Red hood,Crown,naga,Modernia,Asuka

Boost Modernia’s output significantly through enhancements to its core and attack capabilities, while Asuka handles the incoming enemy waves as the boss.

Burst rotation:

  • Red hood -> Crown -> Modernia
  • Red Hood -> Crown -> Asuka
  • Save last Rapture before boss wave (Rapture/Wave Stalling)
  • Wait for Cooldown for all burst skills, then destroy last Rapture
  • Red hood -> Crown -> Asuka

Arena

Apologies for the honesty, but here’s my take on Asuka: While she’s a formidable foe in many aspects, her lack of Burst Gen, Screen Wipe, and Area of Effect (AoE) abilities make her somewhat vulnerable. She can certainly deal enough damage to tackle stall teams, yet her true potential seems limited by these missing capabilities.

Special Interception | Solo Raid | Union Raid

Special Interception

With fresh, unique interception bosses being introduced, this section will be broadened and updated with new guides tailored for them (using contemporary style). Nevertheless, the existing characters are anticipated to excel in every encounter. Particularly against Alteisein (Train), she is expected to perform exceptionally well due to her piercing abilities and elemental advantage.

Union Raid

In some cases during a Union raid, certain bosses have robust defensive shields. However, Asuka is capable of breaking through these shields, thus accelerating guild clear times in the Union raid. Moreover, she’s likely to maintain a top 3 team position for an extended period due to her high damage output. Her team buffs simply reinforce this advantageous position.

Solo Raid

Easy spot in team 1-3. Her DPS and buffing abilities great. She’s also able to buff our first rate-up pilgrim, Modernia’s core damage in boss battles without gimping the team via her burst now! This is great for Modernia’s flexibility do this comfortably (1-2-2 Burst teams). Asuka’s Strength varies drastically depending on content as known for all pierce Nikke’s, but expect her to at least deal substantially more damage than Scarlet even without parts.

Bunny Team (Element Neutral)

liter,crown,asuka,Modernia,Noir

Among the five teams, it’s anticipated that Asuka will perform most efficiently when teamed with the bunny duo overall, considering factors like total damage output. This is primarily because Asuka already has exceptionally high attack power and attack damage, which Crown and Tia enhance. This enhancement opens up another opportunity to increase damage output further by leveraging Blanc’s ability to amplify damage taken up. This setup enables Crown to boost other teams more effectively while providing Modernia with DPS buffs, a benefit that is particularly significant against bosses weak to fire.

Using crown instead would still be better than bunny team depending on how raised Asuka is and overloaded gear rolls, but not by too much.

Theoretical Rei Team (Fire Weak)

liter,flex,Modernia

It’s hard to gauge how much better/worse this team would be in fire weak content as Asuka can be easily overloaded with elemental weakness rolls, as she has not much else to roll for (ATK, Max Ammo). Rei might also not provide enough survivability as she only procs a 13% shield every other full burst, which means Novel or Summer Rosanna is out of the table. Asuka herself can buff herself better than what Rei can provide by at least three-fold. Rei also lacks in DPS when comparing to Modernia.

But at least they get to be together.

Note: Flex needs to be a healer/defensive supporter

Closing Thoughts / Should you pull?

Indeed, Asuka has the potential to significantly outperform Scarlet in scenarios with multiple components, and even surpass her performance in situations without parts. By inflicting core damage, Asuka enhances Modernia’s overall versatility.
