Ashley Tisdale has landed a new lead role in the upcoming CBS sitcom You’re Only Young Twice.
Okay, so you will NOT believe this! Our queen, the amazing actress – you know, the one dealing with all that messy drama with those… people – she just announced it on Instagram! A new show is actually HAPPENING! I’ve been following her forever, and I almost screamed when I saw the post. It’s still in the works, but seriously, this is HUGE! I can’t wait to see what she does with it!
According to Deadline, Ashley Tisdale will not only star as Emily in the new comedy series, but she’s also an executive producer on the show.
Tommy Johnagin will be penning the scripts while additional cast details have yet to be announced.
The story centers on Emily, played by Tisdale, and Alex, a couple who married young and are now 35, as their child begins college.
This show follows recently divorced parents whose children have grown up, as they navigate the world of dating, raising kids with their exes, and the possibility of finding love again.
The mother of two announced her new acting role on Instagram, jokingly sharing that she’d told her agent she was retiring, but he quickly disagreed!
Alyson Tisdale has experience with sitcoms, having previously been on the CBS show Carol’s Second Act with Patricia Heaton. The series ran from 2019 to 2020.
She is also known for her role as Sharpay in Disney’s High School Musical franchise.
The actress has additionally been the voice of Candace in the hit animated series Phineas And Ferb.
She’s also appeared in films like Scary Movie 5 (2013) and Playing It Cool (2014), as well as the 2019 TV series Merry Happy Whatever.
Tiffani Thiessen has talked about her experiences on shows like Carol’s Second Act and Merry Happy Whatever in the past.
In a 2019 interview with CBS, the actor shared that they found the experience surprisingly rewarding, saying, ‘It was really fulfilling for me.’
She shared that she had the opportunity to try new things she hadn’t experienced before in her career, and it felt great.
Last January, Ashley Tisdale published an article in The Cut called ‘Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group.’
She left a group of celebrity moms – including Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff – because she felt excluded and unsupported after having her baby.
Duff started the group, and the friends have become close, regularly texting, taking trips together, arranging playdates for their kids, and attending classes as a group.
Tisdale is mom to Jupiter, four, and Emerson, one, whom she shares with husband Christopher French.
Although the actress from High School Musical didn’t mention anyone by name, fans noticed she stopped following both Duff and Moore on Instagram shortly after the story came out.
Tisdale explained that she felt excluded from certain events, which reminded her of the awkwardness of high school. She wondered what she had done to cause people to leave her out.
After being excluded from another group outing, she sent a text to everyone saying she felt like it was high school behavior and she didn’t want to participate anymore.
I don’t think the mothers are bad people – perhaps with one exception – but I do believe our group’s interactions became unhealthy and negative, at least from my perspective.
Tisdale has shared updates about the friend group over time, including a 2022 girls’ trip with Hilary Duff, singer Meghan Trainor, and other friends.
Matthew Koma, Duff’s husband, also spoke up to criticize Ashley Tisdale, calling her actions ‘self-obsessed’ and ‘out of touch’.
Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff recently discussed the situation on the Call Her Daddy podcast during Wednesday’s episode.
The actress admitted she was very upset when the essay was first published.
‘I honestly felt really sad. I was, like, pretty, pretty taken aback and felt just, like, sad.’
Duff explained that she’s very fortunate to have many close friends. Becoming a mother has strengthened those bonds, especially with a core group of friends she’s known for a decade or more, who have always been there for her.
Having four kids means I’ve made a lot of different mom friends over the years, so it was really upsetting to read something untrue about them. It felt awful not just for me, but for all six of those women and their experiences.
And during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she also discussed the topic and her reaction.
It’s confusing because you start to realize some people actually understand things, while others really don’t.
She recounted overhearing someone say that none of the other mothers or teachers at school seemed to care for her daughter. She immediately countered this, thinking to herself that, on the contrary, she thought all the school moms were wonderful and she adored them.
Although Madison Tisdale is currently enjoying success with a new acting project, Hilary Duff has also been hard at work, releasing her sixth studio album, ‘Luck… Or Something,’ on February 20th.
