Ashley James celebrated the end of her breastfeeding journey by piercing her ears over the weekend.

The television host, aged 37, shared insights on a meaningful act – one symbolizing the sacrifices and grief associated with being a mother.

Previously famous Made In Chelsea personality posted a long note on her Instagram, along with a video of herself at an Astrid & Miyu shop, on a Sunday.

‘I had planned to mark the end of breastfeeding by having my ears pierced, but somehow I didn’t manage to do so after I completed breastfeeding in June.’

It seems that in essence, self-care and taking time for oneself as mothers frequently gets overlooked due to our constant struggle to balance work, motherhood, household chores, and maintaining a social life. Frequently, our personal desires are pushed aside and placed at the bottom of our priority list.

Ashley went on to say: “As soon as I returned from my vacation, I made a decision to treat myself, so I scheduled an appointment at Astrid & Miyu.

During that time, I had both my third lobe piercings and the rook piercing done, but after I became pregnant with Alfie, my third ear holes failed to heal properly and eventually closed on their own.

Back then, I used to cherish my ears deeply, feeling quite upset when they healed. I’ve often expressed a desire to have them modified again.

She shared with her 447K followers that the experience seemed symbolic, as she initially felt isolated when entering the lockdown, but changed once it ended.

A little over a year back, I scheduled an appointment for getting my piercings made. However, I discovered later that it’s not possible to get piercings while breastfeeding, so they declined my service.

Once more, it seemed like a subtle nudge emphasizing the selfless nature of motherhood and breastfeeding – making personal care or self-love appear insignificant and impractical.

‘It felt like coming back to myself – the version of myself that I was in February 2020.

‘I often discuss how flamingos change color during motherhood, and I feel like I’m regaining my own “pinkness” – a feeling that carries great significance for me. Although it may seem trivial, my ear piercings symbolize the sacrifices and losses associated with becoming a mother.’

I too chose to commemorate this change with a fresh piercing – specifically, I opted for a constellation on my helix to symbolize the start of a new phase in my life. This way, both the old and new versions of myself can coexist, much like how a phoenix rises anew from its ashes, leaving behind the past but improved.

Following the stunning blonde, she displayed her entire radiant self-assured physique in an informal beach photo while enjoying a festive vacation with her family in Mexico.

Previously famous MIC personality disclosed that she unexpectedly traveled with her companion Tommy Andrews and children Ada (age 1) and Alfie (age 3), spending Christmas with her American-residing sister as part of their holiday plans.

Posting on Instagram, Beauty shared a series of pictures showcasing her and her loved ones basking in some winter sunlight, along with their baby who also got a special visit from Santa.

Ashley donned a vibrant red two-piece swimsuit as she lounged by the poolside, choosing to display her entire figure to counteract the harmful messages perpetuated by diet culture, and share this experience with her followers.

In a spontaneous photo, the stunning woman highlighted her beautiful figure and deep neckline, expressing that she had never felt more self-assured than at that moment.

She titled the post: ‘Cards from the recent days in Mexico. It’s been incredibly meaningful to spend time with my sister and her family under the sun during this Christmas season. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the chance to meet since last Christmas as they are presently residing in the United States.’

For the initial few days, we’ve stayed at a resort in Playa del Carmen, which turned out to be an ideal base for acclimatization. Our children were quite exhausted upon arrival, with Alf still under the weather, but since then, he hasn’t developed any rash and both seem to be recovering after spending some days basking in the sunshine. Additionally, we’ve had numerous nighttime awakenings due to the time difference, so it’s been comforting to unwind and spend quality time as a family.

Oh, let me tell you, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with this sunny Christmas! It’s a tad disheartening to know that rainy days are on their way for the upcoming period, especially since our vacation takes us to an island paradise where beach time is the main attraction. However, the joy lies in being with my loved ones, and that remains unchanged no matter the weather!

She continued: “Mexico holds a unique spot in my heart, as I embarked on a solo travel adventure here which turned out to be a significant part of my self-discovery journey. Traveling alone enabled me to step beyond my comfort zone, acquire new abilities, and discover new interests.

I found genuine pleasure in embracing my singlehood and the liberty it offered, making me appreciate this newfound freedom. It’s delightful to return, even though the vacation type is entirely different. Reflecting on the past few years, it’s fascinating to see how much has evolved since 2018. Spending time with the children has been a real joy after such a hectic couple of months.

Ashley added: ‘I chose to display my self-assured physique in the initial photo because I’m aware that societal pressure related to dieting is quick to make you believe that you must be incredibly small to feel confident or valuable. However, this isn’t accurate. In truth, I have never been more body-confident than I am now.’
