Ashley Eckstein Reveals Her True Feelings About Voicing Ahsoka Tano

Original voice actress Ashley Eckstein opens up about what the character means to her.

In a video shared by the Star Wars official account on April 19th, during a panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, Eckstein talked about portraying Ahsoka. Eckstein expressed, “My life has been irrevocably altered since I became Ahsoka. It’s not just because I get to voice her, it’s because of all of you.” When asked what he enjoys most about being Ahsoka, he replied, “It’s all of you.

Ashley Eckstein initially portrayed the character Ahsoka Tano in the 2008 animated film “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. Initially a Padawan learner under Anakin Skywalker (voiced by Matt Lanter), Ahsoka is both a strong Jedi and an aggressive warrior. The character gained significant popularity among fans, and continued to do so in the subsequent series “Star Wars Rebels” as well as various episodes of “Tales of the Jedi” in 2022, comics, novels, and even a live-action series dedicated solely to her storyline.

Previously appearing in “The Mandalorian” and later starring in “The Book of Boba Fett,” Ahsoka eventually got her own series, titled “Ahsoka.” This highly acclaimed spinoff of “The Mandalorian” debuted on Disney+ in 2023 to positive feedback from both critics and viewers. The initial season, consisting of eight episodes, was penned by creator and Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni, who also assumed the roles of showrunner and co-director for the series. In “Ahsoka,” the protagonist, Ahsoka Tano, collaborates with her apprentice, Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo), to thwart the schemes of the antagonistic Grand Admiral Thrawn (portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen).

At Star Wars Celebration 2025, Filoni confirmed that the scripts for all eight episodes were finished earlier on, but emphasized that they are subject to change, even in their final stages, particularly once they reach the set. “I continuously work on them as I progress,” Filoni clarified. “You need to keep refining and enhancing them. Every second counts, and it’s about using every moment you have to make this project better by collaborating with my team and the actresses. Things develop and change over time, and each opportunity is taken to improve it further.

At the moment, you can stream Ahsoka on Disney+. It’s anticipated that Season 2 will debut between late 2025 and early 2026.
