It seems like CBS isn’t just considering changes to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Following a leadership change at CBS News and the recent merger with Paramount Skydance, reports indicate that CBS Saturday Morning is also undergoing significant changes, and its co-anchors have been let go.
Just three months after The Late Show ended, the New York Post reported that CBS Saturday Morning is facing major changes. The show, which has been on the air for 28 years and currently broadcasts from 7 to 9 a.m. ET on Saturdays, is reportedly getting a complete makeover. According to the Post, CBS News’ editor in chief, Bari Weiss, and network president, Tom Cibrowski, are leading the effort.
In addition to this announcement, Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, the co-anchors of Saturday Morning, and Brian Applegate, the show’s executive producer, were informed that their positions were being eliminated.

This news naturally raises a lot of questions, but we don’t have the answers yet. As of today, we don’t know when the last episode will be shown, or if the show will continue with a new cast and crew.
Stephen Colbert’s show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s scheduled to run until May 2026, so fans don’t need to worry about it ending early. New episodes will continue to air on CBS and be available to stream on Paramount+.

Watch the poignant moment Emma Stone playfully suggests she and Stephen Colbert could collaborate on a sketch ‘next time,’ leading them both to acknowledge the show will eventually end.
The recent cancellation of CBS Saturday Morning seems to stem from the same financial issues impacting Stephen Colbert’s show. Sources say the program was considered too costly, a decision made by CBS’s new leadership team appointed by Paramount Skydance. This came after a reported 10% drop in overall viewership and a 20% decline among viewers aged 25-54.
In addition to the cancellation of the update on CBS Saturday Morning, CBS Mornings Plus and CBS Evening News Plus have also been canceled. CBS News is also closing its bureau in Johannesburg, South Africa, and senior foreign correspondent Deborah Patta has been let go. Further cuts include the departure of Los Angeles Bureau Chief Joelle Martinez, and the Race and Culture Unit has been reduced from nine employees to just one.
At this point, fewer than 100 cuts have been made. However, more are reportedly coming.
All of this is happening after the recent, and somewhat debated, decision to end The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. There’s a lot of restructuring going on at CBS, CBS News, and Paramount Skydance, which is affecting both daytime and evening programming. We’ll continue to share updates as we learn which shows will remain and which ones are being cancelled.
