With Stellar Blade surpassing 3 million global sales, its director, Hyung-tae Kim, has disclosed that the upcoming sequel will carry a more somber narrative, a fact that’s already been verified.
In an interview through Genki, Kim openly discussed that their team initially crafted a more detailed narrative for Eve and her companions. However, the expense of creating cutscenes escalated excessively, compelling them to omit most cinematics – which in turn impacted the story significantly – to ensure the game’s timely release. Consequently, we are left pondering many mysteries surrounding Eve’s universe, such as the reason behind her frequent costume changes.
Initially, Shift Up pondered incorporating cutscenes later on for a clearer storyline, but Kim worried that these might conflict with players’ existing perceptions of the game. As a result, we can anticipate a “well-developed plot” in the upcoming sequel.
It seems that we might not receive an update for some time, as the entire team appears to be focusing on the PC version at present. However, Kim mentioned that Shift Up will strive to release it by 2027.
On June 11th, Stellar Blade’s PC release marked its debut. Remarkably, it has already become Sony’s largest single-player Steam launch to date. Currently, the number of simultaneous players has surpassed 192,000, which is significantly higher than the peak numbers for Ghost of Tsushima (77,154), God of War (73,529), and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,436). Interestingly, Stellar Blade is the only Sony-published single-player game to have a higher concurrent player count than Helldivers 2, which is a multiplayer title.
iggn.ru‘s Stellar Blade review returned a 7/10. We said: “Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre.”
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the PC-specific features of this game! The AI upscaling with Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3 promises smoother, high-quality graphics. I’m also thrilled about the unlocked framerate option, allowing me to customize my gaming experience.
For those who enjoy immersive experiences in other languages, you’ll be glad to know that this game supports Japanese and Chinese voiceover. If you have an ultrawide monitor, you can take advantage of the support for that aspect ratio.
The environment textures will be rendered in higher resolution, making every detail pop. And if you own a PlayStation 5, you’ll appreciate the DualSense support, which adds a new level of immersion with its haptic feedback and trigger effects.
