When Ted Lasso Season 4 finally arrives—whether it’s in 2026 or later—we can expect to see familiar faces like Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, and Brendan Hunt as Willis Beard. However, it’s still uncertain if some other actors from the Apple TV+ series will return, including James Lance. Though he hasn’t confirmed whether he’ll be back as reporter Trent Crimm, Lance recently shared a fond memory of a particularly heartwarming scene from Season 3.
I’m still hoping Lance will be in Season 4 of Ted Lasso, especially since his character, Trent, would likely be interested in the development of AFC Richmond’s new women’s team. However, when asked about it by ComicBookMovie during an interview about his upcoming 2025 film, Tinsel Town, he wouldn’t comment, stating, “I can’t say anything. I know nothing.” He was happy to talk about what makes Trent such a compelling character, though.
One particularly moving scene in season 3 shows Trent entering the locker room and facing hostility from the team. It resonated deeply because it mirrored a childhood experience of being excluded from a football team. It was rewarding to portray those emotions and show Trent finding his resolve to connect with the others – and succeeding. Playing a character who learns to be more open and authentic was a truly fulfilling experience.

James Lance is discussing the second episode of Season 3, titled “(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea,” where Trent Crimm starts working on his book about AFC Richmond. This required him to interview the players, but Roy Kent was initially upset because of a harsh article Trent had written about him early in his Chelsea career and wouldn’t allow the team to talk to him. After Trent apologized for the article, which was about the young, 17-year-old Roy, they made amends. Roy then gave the players, including Jamie Tartt, permission to speak openly with Trent.

Why Nick Mohammed’s Latest Ted Lasso Season 4 Comments Have Me Theorizing That Nate Might Come Back
I was so excited to hear Brett Goldstein mention he’s working on a really emotional episode for the fourth season of Ted Lasso! It’s got me thinking – I’ve already started coming up with all sorts of theories about what might happen and who it could involve. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with – knowing him, it’s going to be powerful.
I agree with James Lance’s take on this moment. It was already tough for Trent Crimm when he couldn’t get information for his book, but being completely ignored likely brought back painful memories of being excluded as a kid. Thankfully, things improved once he and Roy resolved their conflict. They aren’t exactly close friends now, but Roy will probably be much nicer to Trent and stop insulting him.
It’s great to see people sharing their thoughts on Ted Lasso while we wait for updates on Season 4. I’m especially hoping James Lance returns as Trent Crimm and look forward to seeing what he writes about AFC Richmond, whether it’s in another book or somewhere else.
