As His Dark Materials’ Book Saga Continues, James McAvoy And Dafne Keen’s TV Adaptation Remains Underrated

The epic tale of “His Dark Materials,” written by Philip Pullman, has been enveloped in debate since the release of its initial book, previously titled “Northern Lights,” in 1998. Additionally, a movie adaptation named “The Golden Compass” that didn’t establish a film series added to the challenges faced by the HBO adaptation featuring Dafne Keen and James McAvoy.

As a passionate cinephile, I can hardly contain my excitement as Philip Pullman prepares to complete the next trilogy in the captivating saga of Lyra Silvertongue. This news has me eagerly revisiting the TV show and secretly daring to hope for a sequel series that will continue this magical journey!

The Next Book

Spoilers ahead for Philip Pullman’s series of Lyra Silvertongue books.

In contrast to being a continuation of the “His Dark Materials” trilogy, this new series is known as “The Book of Dust.” Although it’s titled differently, the second set of three novels continues to delve deeply into characters from “The Golden Compass,” “The Subtle Knife,” and “The Amber Spyglass.” All these stories take place in the same universe that was preserved by Lyra and Will.

The first installment of Philip Pullman’s sequel trilogy, titled “La Belle Sauvage,” was published in 2017. Following this, “The Secret Commonwealth” came out in 2019, leaving readers like me who are also waiting for George R.R Martin’s next book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga on tenterhooks. However, we can now rejoice as the third and final book of Pullman’s trilogy is finally upon us!
