As He-Man in ‘Masters of the Universe,’ Nicholas Galitzine shows off ‘intense training’ in first look
Displaying the famous Power Sword and sporting an impressive physique, actor Nicholas Galitzine offers a glimpse into his portrayal of He-Man in the forthcoming live-action version of “Masters of the Universe.
In simple terms, the actor who played roles in “Red, White & Royal Blue” and “Idea of You” shared a sneak peek photo on social media, announcing that the upcoming movie is currently being filmed. This information was also shared by Amazon MGM Studios, Mattel, and the film’s official accounts.

During a sneak peek gathering, ‘Superman’ director and DC Studios executive James Gunn emphasized the importance of remaining faithful to the original roots of the character while modernizing its news-oriented setting.
In the 1980s, Mattel launched the “Masters of the Universe” franchise, which combined elements of science fiction and medieval tales, taking place on the planet Eternia. The success of MOTU toys, books, comics led to video games, films, and numerous animated series. There was a live-action movie in 1987, featuring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella portraying the antagonist Skeletor.
In most versions of this popular franchise, the main character, He-Man, is renowned for his extraordinary physical power. The majority of these adaptations revolve around He-Man’s battles against Skeletor, a role that will be taken on by Jared Leto in the upcoming movie.

Over time, the rights for a movie version of it have been passed from one party to another, but as of May 2024, Amazon MGM Studios officially announced that they would be producing a high-cost, live-action project led by director Travis Knight.
Prior to the unveiling of the teaser picture, additional cast members were disclosed. Among them are Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Camila Mendes as Teela, Morena Baccarin as Sorceress, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto. The ensemble also includes James Purefoy, Sasheer Zamata, John Xue Zhang, Christian Vunipola, Charlotte Riley, Hafthor Bjornsson, and Kojo Attah.

In an interesting turn of events, Benedict Cumberbatch discloses that Doctor Strange will not feature in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ Moreover, he shares that he was equally shocked as everyone else about Robert Downey’s comeback within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Galitzine shared on Instagram that our director Travis Knight has brought together an extraordinary cast and crafted a breathtaking portrayal of Eternia and its surroundings. After spending months undergoing rigorous training for his role, he’s eagerly looking forward to the unveiling. Additional information will be revealed later, but until then, here’s a preview of the Sword of Power – By the power of Grayskull!
To become “the universally strongest man,” as he detailed in an interview with W Magazine in January, Galitzine revealed that he’s been focusing on stunts, weight training, and dieting to achieve this goal.
He mentioned that he consumes approximately 4,000 calories daily, yet finds himself feeling hungry at the end of the day, which is quite unexpected, as he shared with the magazine. What’s intriguing is that he plans to transition into what’s known as a ‘cutting phase,’ during which he will significantly reduce his calorie intake and may become rather unpleasant towards others. He can only express his apologies in advance for the change in his behavior over the next few months.
“Masters of the Universe” is set to be released June 5, 2026.
