Afton explained, “At school, children began approaching me and inquiring whether my mother was Gillian McKeith. This question left me flushed with embarrassment, for I was rather timid and unsure of how to respond.
Fortunately, Afton wasn’t yet matured with stardom when her mother became famous, allowing her to avoid much of its impact. Contrarily, the same isn’t true for Skylar, who has since become a lawyer.
Afton clarified, ‘When everything began, my sibling was already older and attending high school. Unfortunately, she encountered some instances of bullying, but thankfully, they weren’t too severe.’
Even though Afton was urged to maintain a healthy diet since childhood, she too was not spared from her mother’s meticulous toilet inspections.
She mentioned that she isn’t overly concerned about my feces because I’m generally healthy, but she has indeed inspected it on occasion.
‘My sister used to keep a poo chart and would keep my mum informed!’
She added: ‘She brought us up eating very healthily and doing a lot of fitness. My favourite form of fitness is dancing! It’s a way of life for us, I don’t know any different.
‘I love the way that we eat, it is a gift to have so much knowledge about health thanks to my mum.
Over time, my career path led me to specialize in health and wellness, earning a total of 20 certifications within this sector. My enthusiasm for this subject runs deep, as I firmly believe that good health is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life.
While Afton is well-versed in the world of nutrition, it is not her calling in life.
Rather than that, she has a preference for delving into another facet of her mother’s life – pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
Though Gillian primarily worked as a nutritionist, she swiftly gained recognition on television, participating in shows similar to The X Factor: Battle of the Stars and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
For Afton, the glittering appeal of stardom is hard to resist, but she prefers to establish herself as a respected actress in traditional film roles instead of participating in reality TV competitions.
Afternoon, the one versed in dramatic arts from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, articulated thusly: ‘Acting ignites my soul. I identify as an actress. I’ve graced stages for plays and musicals, screens for television and cinema.’
‘I just got back from Los Angeles after acting in an indie feature film.’
Next year, the film titled “Nick of Time” is scheduled for release, featuring her acting alongside popular American actor and TikTok sensation, Nic Suarez.
She longs deeply for the opportunity to act in a historical drama, particularly aspiring to land a part in the steamy Netflix production, Bridgerton. Her ideal career choice would be that role.
She enthusiastically expressed that such a show suits her perfectly. Additionally, she dreams of performing in a romantic comedy alongside talented actors like Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Aniston, or Adam Sandler, whom she had the chance to meet in Los Angeles just a few weeks back.
‘He wished me good luck on my movie that I was filming while I was there!’
Adam isn’t the only star that Afton has rubbed shoulders with.
She has developed a bond with Grammy-winning artist Harry Styles, having met him just as he was starting out in his career.
Despite being a popular heartthrob with a floppy hairdo, this celebrity found himself in awe when he met none other than Gillian, the mother of Afton.
Reminding everyone of the time the McKeiths crossed paths with Harry at The X Factor’s backstage area, Afton mentioned: ‘They, Harry and Niall Horan, were eager to meet my mom and requested that a producer facilitate an introduction between us.’
Harry was thrilled beyond words to encounter my mother, and he was remarkably kind towards me. In retrospect, it’s amusing because now he’s a global superstar, but when he met my mom, he was visibly trembling with excitement and apprehension!
Afton added that despite achieving global fame with One Direction, Harry was still just as humble when she bumped into him a few years later at a cafe in London.
As a die-hard admirer, I can attest that his remarkable character remained unaltered by his meteoric rise to stardom. He’s still the humble, courteous, and delightful individual I adored way before he became famous.
