In the realm of popular music, few acts have left as lasting an impression as the Beatles did. Hailing from Liverpool in the 1960s, this quartet, affectionately known as the Fab Four, swept the world off its feet and have remained a significant cultural force ever since. The melodies crafted by the Beatles continue to resonate in films today, and soon, we’ll be treated to four movies that delve into their extraordinary journey.
Approximately 25 years following The Beatles’ disbandment, one of the most significant moments in my life unfolded as I watched the television special, “The Beatles Anthology“. Although I was familiar with The Beatles as a teenager, this series deepened my admiration for the band, offering an appreciation that had previously been lacking.
Shortly afterward, I developed a strong affection for The Beatles, purchasing all three albums related to the project and receiving the complete eight-part series on VHS for Christmas. For years following that, I held onto the tapes, although I no longer had a VCR to play them on. However, soon enough, I won’t need one anymore.
The Beatles Anthology Is Finally Coming To Streaming On Disney+
For several days now, all The Beatles’ social media platforms have been hinting at something significant, and it appeared to revolve around The Beatles Anthology, a unique blend of album and documentary that was brought to life three decades ago. It has now been officially announced that a freshly remastered entire series, including a new ninth episode, is set to premiere on Disney+ on November 26.
Clearly, being a fan who regards this series as a significant milestone in my musical journey, I’m absolutely ecstatic! The Beatles Anthology was an exceptionally comprehensive documentary that featured fresh interviews from the three surviving Beatles at the time. If you’re curious about one of the most impactful bands in history, there’s simply no better resource than this.
Simultaneously with the streaming launch, the music from The Beatles Anthology is being re-released. This includes a fresh fourth album, a newly written book, and a remastered version of the “new” Beatles song, “Free as a Bird.
The Disney+ Beatles Anthology Will Contain A New Episode
As a fan, you’ll be thrilled to know that The Beatles Anthology is being extended! Initially, it was an eight-part series, but the one coming to Disney+ in November will include a ninth part. This extra segment serves as a backstage look at the creation of The Beatles Anthology, providing a unique insight into its production process. It’s the ideal conclusion to this captivating tale.
Disney Plus has transformed into an exceptional hub for music enthusiasts. Ranging from live concerts by artist heavyweights like Elton John and Taylor Swift to engrossing documentaries about iconic studios such as Abbey Road, this platform is a treasure trove for music lovers. Given the variety of artists, subscribing to Disney Plus could be a valuable addition to your entertainment options, but it’s arguably indispensable if you’re particularly fond of The Beatles.
With your Disney+ subscription, you’ll have access to ‘Beatles ’64’, a show detailing the band’s initial journey to America; ‘The Beatles: Get Back’, a documentary by Peter Jackson chronicling the creation of the iconic ‘Let It Be’ album; a reworked edition of the documentary film ‘The Beatles: Let It Be’; and lastly, ‘The Beatles Anthology’, which complements these historical pieces perfectly for dedicated fans.
If there’s a downside, it’s that I’m about to go broke buying The Beatles on vinyl again.
