Arteezy Steps down from the Shopify Rebellion Roster to take a well deserved break
As a long-time fan and follower of Arteezy’s career, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and sadness as he steps down from competitive Dota 2. Arteezy has been an inspiration to North American players since his debut back in 2014, and his impact on the community is immeasurable.
You can rest now Mr. Babaev. You’ve earned it.
As a dedicated gamer following Arteezy’s career, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness as I witness his decision to take a break from competitive Dota 2. After an impressive 10-year run, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev is stepping down from the professional scene. While it’s not entirely goodbye, as he intends to continue streaming and engaging with the community, this marks the end of an era that has left a significant impact on Dota 2. The excitement and anticipation surrounding Arteezy’s gameplay and achievements will be deeply missed.
Arteezy steps down and takes a break from pro Dota
The Dota 2 community is feeling sad today as Artreezy, a long-time star and source of inspiration for North American players, has decided to take a hiatus from professional Dota 2 competition. Since his debut in 2014, he’s made a significant impact on the scene, filling in for bOne7 at MLG Columbus and eventually becoming the most recognized North American player.
Arteezy’s professional Dota 2 career took off following his victory at the first LAN tournament he attended (MLG Columbus). The spotlight on him was immense, making him a hot topic among fans. Next, he teamed up with Zai, Universe, ppd, and Fear to form S A D B O Y S. This squad, picked up by Evil Geniuses, became one of the greatest North American Dota 2 teams ever. Their impressive performances on international stages catapulted Arteezy into becoming a beloved figure in the Dota 2 community.

After some period, changes in the lineup took place as teammates retired or were released from Evil Geniuses. Consequently, Arteezy and his group joined Shopify Rebellion. Shopify assembled various rosters with a primary focus on Artour. Despite impressive showings at times, Arteezy could not surpass the ‘third-place barrier.’ A pivotal moment occurred in The International qualifiers when Shopify lost to Nouns and missed out on qualification. This disappointment was particularly significant for Arteezy, as most of his longtime teammates had retired. In his statement, he expressed this sense of loss.
As a dedicated gamer who’s spent countless hours competing in Dota alongside my dearest friends and ex-teammates, I can’t help but feel the absence of their camaraderie and support. This has left me pondering whether it’s time for a little hiatus from the game to recharge and maybe reunite with them offline.
Arteezy
After that occurrence, Arteezy has resumed streaming. Although Arteezy won’t be participating in Dota 2 tournaments anytime soon, his fans can still keep up with him via his live streams. Nevertheless, his competitive spirit in Dota 2 remains intact. Therefore, there’s a chance we may see Arteezy back in the game, but only after he takes some time for himself.
