Arslan Ash blocked by Tekken 8 Game Director Harada – but it was a mistake

In a recent turn of events, Tekken 8’s Harada unintentionally blocked Arslan Ash on Twitter, following the stir caused by Murray’s blocking of MrsPlayStuff only a few weeks prior.

As a devoted Tekken fan, I found myself preparing for another wave of buzz on social media following the revelation by Arslan Ash that he’d been blocked on Twitter by the very Game Director of Tekken 8, Katsuhiro Harada himself.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Harada blocked Arslan Ash, this news followed closely on the heels of Tekken 8 producer Michael Murray being subjected to mockery and harassment for blocking Tekken 8’s creator, Mrsplaystuff.

Appearing nearly too outlandish to be true, the block sparked such disbelief. However, surprisingly, Katsuhiro Harada himself stepped forward to clarify the reasons behind it.

Arslan Ash blocked by Tekken Game Director Harada on Twitter

It’s quite shocking and potentially intriguing news for the gaming community, as Arslan Ash, who is widely recognized as the embodiment of competitive Tekken, recently disclosed that the director of Tekken 8, Katsuhiro Harada, has allegedly blocked him.

Contrary to Michael Murray’s situation where he faced immediate criticism after blocking mrsplaystuff, Harada was initially given the advantage of the doubt by the community. Many thought it might have been a mistake or an automated block system to shield against intense hostility. As it turned out, this suspicion was correct.

Harada responds: Arslan Ash block was “an operational error”

Harada responded on Twitter, saying, “It seems like it was an oversight, not intentional,” regarding the user tagging him about the block. He explained that they had communicated through DMs before (he left his bag there when they agreed to a photo shoot in Las Vegas), and he has since rectified the situation by deactivating it.

Harada Katsuhiro stated on Twitter: “You’re free to interpret it as you wish, but I only block when necessary (and will do so if the situation requires me to report it). Isn’t this something we all understand?

Given that I’m typically using just one hand with a mobile app, I tend to make mistakes quite frequently. By the way, I’ve accidentally blocked myself on my own TEKKEN account (which is now the official one) and Michael’s account as well, chuckles.

On Twitter, the only method to discover if someone has blocked you is by trying to access their profile. If they have indeed blocked you, you won’t be able to view their Tweet timeline and a message saying “[Twitter account name] has blocked you” will appear instead.

Michael Murray did it first – Tekken Producer’s Season 2 drama

The topic of blocking users on Twitter has been a recurring issue since the launch of the debated Tekken Season 2. On April 3, just two days following the Season 2 release, Tekken 8’s Producer Michael Murray found himself under significant criticism after streamer MrsPlayStuff disclosed that he had blocked her on Twitter.

Just as ArslanAsh recently posted a screenshot showing they’d been blocked by Michael Murray, MrsPlayStuff did the same today. This action sparked a wave of criticism towards Tekken 8’s Producer, with many taking to Twitter and Reddit to express their thoughts. In fact, her tweet amassed over half a million impressions on Twitter alone!

Although Twitter’s comments were quite harsh, Reddit showed a more inventive side by offering some witty one-liners in reaction to the block.

  • “Why side stepping criticism when you can block it…”
  • “I wish Twitter had chip damage on block”
  • “When Twitter has more defensive options than Tekken as a whole”
  • “mrsplaystuff is in heat. Murray gets chip damage from blocking.”
  • “‘Send us feedback on Twitter'”‘ -> receives feedback -> blocks. LMAO”

Tekken 8 drama false alarm

As we approach the release of Tekken 8 Season 2 version 2.00.03, it’s reassuring that Harada has quelled any rumors of a dispute between him and Arslan Ash. However, it’s clear that there remains some strain between the Tekken 8 community and their development team, despite their official apology for Season 2 and emergency update.
