Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals the surprising gambit that ended his bitter feud with Sylvester Stallone
In the past, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were fierce competitors, but over time they have become good friends.
Over the past fourteen years, even during the peak of their stardom in the ’80s, I’ve consistently found myself in the spotlight for my less-than-complimentary remarks about one another in the media.
Back in 2017, I, a die-hard fan, couldn’t help but spill the beans about my fascination with the movie “Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot.” Little did I know that my casual hint would set the legendary Sylvester Stallone into action. True to form, he swooped in and snatched up the role!
As a lifestyle expert looking back on their journey, I can say that they eventually formed a strong bond, both as friends and co-stars in movies such as The Expendables series and Escape Plan. Interestingly enough, he recently disclosed the details behind how their disagreement was resolved.
77-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger, known for his recent unusual remarks regarding his son Patrick, spoke on Radio Andy to promote his latest series called Fubar. During the conversation, he admitted that they had a strained relationship in the past, saying ‘We were not getting along well’ at the time.
It turns out, quite unexpectedly, their joint venture in the restaurant chain Planet Hollywood was actually what bonded them most tightly.

When Andy Cohen inquired about their reconciliation, Schwarzenegger responded, “Our reconciliation happened at Planet Hollywood. In other words, it was all about Planet Hollywood.
The ex-California governor acknowledged that our behavior resembled a pattern of hostile actions towards one another, involving hurtful acts and words, as well as some rather foolish antics.
Later on, I found myself collaborating with Robert Earl and Keith Barish to establish the Planet Hollywood chain. Before I knew it, my attorney, who was also Sylvester Stallone’s lawyer, called me and asked, “Arnold, is there any possibility for Sly to be involved in Planet Hollywood?” This is what Schwarzenegger remembered.
The actor explained, “‘That’s genuinely a sound suggestion,’ I commented, as it would unite us, which was my aim at the time. By then, I had matured beyond my previous eccentricities.
In the end, we managed to pull it off, and later on, Bruce Willis joined Planet Hollywood, followed by Whoopi Goldberg, and lastly, Chuck Norris, as he mentioned.
The intense competition between them dates as far back as January 1977, a time when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone found themselves sitting together at the Golden Globe Awards.
1976’s “Stay Hungry” saw Arnold Schwarzenegger receive the accolade for Best Acting Debut, a feat he happily boasted about, as Sylvester Stallone was nominated for multiple awards for his work in “Rocky.
In a 2017 conversation with Variety, Stallone shared that he witnessed Schwarzenegger chuckling after Stallone lost the Best Actor award, but it was Stallone who ultimately had the final laughter as Rocky took home the Best Picture accolade.
Or:
During a 2017 interview with Variety, Stallone disclosed that he noticed Schwarzenegger smirking when Stallone lost the Best Actor title; however, it was Stallone who had the last laugh as Rocky clinched the Best Picture award.

At last, it was Rocky who won Best Picture. In a swift move, I picked up this enormous floral arrangement and hurled it towards him. With a smile, I declared, “Now, the challenge has been set.
He said, “This marked the start of a decade-long power struggle, if you will, as we simply couldn’t coexist in the same universe. However, the conflict eventually reached its resolution.
He remarked, “It turns out we’re actually the same individual. That’s the connection.” Adding that they were not only good friends, but extraordinary friends.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share this thrilling tale. When Arnold Schwarzenegger took office as Governor of California, none other than Sylvester Stallone graciously accepted the invitation to attend his inauguration ceremonies. In a gesture that truly solidified their bond as action heroes, Stallone generously contributed $15,000 to Schwarzenegger’s campaign fund!
