Armie Hammer reveals shock return to acting after cannibalism scandal… as baffled fans have mixed reactions
Armie Hammer is making a surprising comeback to the silver screen, following a period of time away due to allegations about his personal life that significantly impacted his thriving acting career in Hollywood.
38-year-old actor famous for his role in “Call Me By Your Name,” faced a downfall as several women levied accusations against him, claiming incidents of physical violence and expressing dark fantasies about cannibalism.
He was investigated by the LAPD in 2023 but ultimately wasn’t charged.
In the upcoming vigilante thriller titled “The Dark Knight,” directed by Uwe Boll, Hammer will be stepping into the lead role. Filming for this project is set to commence in Croatia on January 27th, as reported by Variety.
In “The Dark Knight” (not to be mistaken for the 2008 Batman movie directed by Christopher Nolan), Hammer’s character, Sanders, is portrayed as a vigilante who pursues criminals, assuming the role of meting out justice himself.

In February 2021, Effie Angelova, then 26 years old and Hammer’s former girlfriend, claimed that he had violently raped and abused her in the year 2017. His legal representative refuted the rape allegations, stating that all of his sexual interactions were discussed, agreed upon consensually prior, and actively participated in by both parties.
Previously, Hammer admitted that he feels thankful for the scandal involving accusations of cannibalism and abuse, which ultimately led to the downfall of his thriving Hollywood acting career.

Currently, I find myself in a state of profound gratitude due to the experiences I’ve gone through. Prior to these events, my life was not as fulfilling. I rarely felt good about myself, never truly satisfied, always wanting more, and never reached a point where I felt content with who I am or had strong self-esteem.
I’ve always been unsure of how to provide my own affection or validation. However, I found a role where I received these things abundantly from others, sparing me the need to learn how to do it for myself.
In response to allegations of cannibalism, he stated emphatically: “They labeled me as a cannibal, implying that I consume humans! Are you kidding me?! Let me clarify – in order to be a cannibal, one must actually eat people!
He described his decline as follows: “It felt like a self-destruction, a professional end. A catastrophic explosion occurred in my life, wiping out everything.
In July 2020, his ex-spouse, Elizabeth Chambers, parted ways with him. They have two young kids together.
During that phase, the star admitted that he had considered taking his own life, expressing: “I had numerous moments when I felt I could bear no more. I was receiving a lot of hostility… it seemed to penetrate deeply… at one point, I felt utterly overwhelmed.
Initially, I found myself near the seashore and decided to venture quite a distance into the water. I ended up floating there for a while, but it was not a genuine attempt at taking my own life – more like a weak or half-hearted one. However, I couldn’t bring myself to do that, considering the impact such an action would have on my children.
He acknowledged that his Hollywood career has stalled for the time being, but shared that he’s busy constructing his own creative space, and in the process, is working on writing a screenplay.
