Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials

What to Read Next

No list of mystery series would be complete without Agatha Christie, and now her novel The Seven Dials Mystery is getting a new adaptation. The drama features a British cast, including Helena Bonham-Carter as Lady Caterham and Martin Freeman as Superintendent Battle. It’s set at a glamorous country house party in 1925 where a series of pranks take a dark and deadly turn.

Will Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) get to the bottom of it?

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials is arriving on Netflix on Thursday 15th January

Deadloch

We’ve been huge fans of Deadloch for years, so we were really excited to hear that Prime Video is making a second season.

I’m so excited to see Dulcie and Eddie back! Those two mismatched detectives – Kate Box and Madeleine Sami are brilliant – are investigating what happened to Eddie’s old partner, and this time the case takes them all the way from Tasmania to the scorching hot Northern Territory. It’s going to be a wild ride!

The case takes an unexpected turn with the discovery of a famous local resident’s body in a secluded town. Get ready for suspense, surprising plot twists, and a healthy dose of dark humor.

Deadloch season two is coming to Prime Video on Friday 20th March.

Treasure & Dirt

We enjoy British detective shows, but sometimes we want something set in a warmer location. That’s where the new drama Treasure & Dirt comes in. It’s a gripping series that takes you to an Australian desert opal town, where a miner is found murdered – brutally beheaded.

Detective Ivan Lucic, a veteran of city homicide, teams up with rural detective Nell Buchanan (Liv Hewson from Yellowjackets) to hunt down a killer. However, their case quickly becomes much bigger than just catching a murderer as they dig deeper into the investigation.

Treasure & Dirt is likely to air in 2026 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Gone

I just started watching Gone, and Eve Myles is fantastic as this really determined detective. Honestly, she always brings her A-game to these roles! The show centers around a woman who’s gone missing in Bristol, and her character, Detective Annie Cassidy, is the one trying to figure out what happened to her.

The more she investigates, the more she suspects Headmaster Michael Polly (David Morrissey from Sherwood), a well-respected figure in town.

Detective Cassidy and the suspect then become locked in a tense back-and-forth, with Cassidy trying to break through the suspect’s calm exterior to uncover what really happened.

Gone is expected to arrive on ITV1 in 2026.

Dustfall

Okay, seriously, you guys need to check out this new show, Dustfall! It’s based on a fantastic book called The Unbelieved, and it totally hooked me. It’s a six-part mystery, but it’s not just about solving a crime – it really digs into some important stuff like how the system can fail people, especially women, and how unfair things can be. I’m already obsessed!

The series centers on Detective Tig (Anna Torv), who returns to her Australian hometown to investigate a series of drink-spiking incidents. The case takes a dangerous turn when her main suspect is found dead, leading Tig into a much more complex and troubling investigation.

If that chilling premise wasn’t enough, also in the cast is British acting legend Juliet Stevenson.

Dustfall is expected to debut on BBC One and iPlayer in 2026.

Murdoch Mysteries

Looking for a good mystery show with a historical backdrop? If so, you might enjoy Murdoch Mysteries, which takes place in the early 1900s, a time of great innovation.

The show features Yannick Bisson as Detective William Murdoch, a resourceful investigator who solves crimes throughout Canada by employing innovative forensic science for his era, including fingerprinting, ultraviolet light, and blood analysis.

You can already watch the first 18 seasons of Murdoch Mysteries before the 19th season comes to the UK, so you can catch up or re-enjoy your favorites!

Season 19 of Murdoch Mysteries is scheduled to premiere on U&Alibi in January 2026. You can currently watch seasons 1 through 18 on NOW.

Ludwig

Anna Maxwell Martin and David Mitchell are a fantastic acting pair, and they’re back in the charming mystery drama, Ludwig.

The first season introduced us to John “Ludwig” Taylor (Mitchell), a puzzle creator who pretended to be his detective brother, James, after James disappeared. John hoped to solve the mystery of his brother’s vanishing by taking his place.

Ludwig is now an official consultant for the Cambridgeshire Police, who recognized his talent for solving crimes. He’ll continue to help the police while also searching for his brother, with assistance from his sister-in-law, Lucy Taylor-Betts (Martin). This episode features guest appearances by Sian Clifford (known from Fleabag) and Mark Bonnar.

Ludwig season two is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.

The Case

According to creator George Kay, The Case blends romance with the suspense of a crime thriller. Kay is known for his skill in creating compelling series, having also been behind hits like Hijack, Lupin, and The Long Shadow.

I just started watching this new series set in Stockholm, and I’m totally hooked! It centers around this really great investigator, Thomas Berg, played by Jakob Oftebro, who’s trying to catch a killer. But things get seriously creepy because the murderer starts going after people Thomas works with – his fellow police officers! It’s a really tense and personal case for him, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Completely stuck and with nowhere else to turn, Thomas hesitantly asks for help from his long-separated father, who used to be a highly skilled detective.

The Case will arrive on Netflix in 2026.

The Bay

Fans love The Bay, so everyone was happy to learn that a sixth season of the detective drama is currently being made.

Inspired by shows like Broadchurch and Shetland, The Bay follows Detective Sergeant Jenn Townsend (Marsha Thomason) as she solves crimes in the coastal town of Morecambe. While the specific case for series 6 hasn’t been revealed, previous seasons have featured investigations into murder and missing persons, suggesting this next case will also be intricate and challenging.

The Bay season six will arrive on ITV1 and ITVX in 2026.

Death Valley

In the Welsh countryside, detective Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth) bravely partners with John Chapel (Timothy Spall), a former TV detective and now a recluse, to solve a string of puzzling crimes. Together, they investigate the mysteries of Death Valley, throwing caution to the wind in their pursuit of justice.

Each episode features the odd-couple detectives tackling a fresh case, combining their different talents to catch criminals. The second series will bring John and DS Mallowan back as crime in Wales sees a dramatic increase – with promises of “more murder and mischief” from BBC Comedy Commissioning Director, Jon Petrie.

Death Valley season two will arrive on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.

As a total TV fan, I’m so excited about the Good Housekeeping Christmas TV Guide! It’s got listings for a full 14 days of Christmas shows, so I can plan all my festive viewing. And at just £4.75, it’s a steal! You can grab a copy at Morrisons, TG Jones, or any other good magazine shop.
