Observations on why Tangtang EP removed

According to feedback from the Chinese community, shared by Reddit user ‘prurite’, the negative reaction is due to both the quality of the music and the controversy surrounding the singer. This makes sense, as the Arknights series is known for consistently good music, and this release damages that positive image.
Controversy around the singer sparks further backlash
A common complaint about this new Arknights episode is that it doesn’t live up to the quality of previous ones, leaving many fans disappointed. Another issue is the choice of vocalist, 凶狠凯蒂 (Xionghen Kaiti), who some fans identify as a TikTok influencer known for controversial content. Many believe her style and past work don’t fit the character of TangTang.
I generally think we should judge artwork separately from the person who created it, but in this situation, the singer’s reaction made things worse. After receiving criticism, she limited comments on her BiliBili account, removed many existing comments, and even got into arguments with people who were commenting on a completely different video.
However, people are now criticizing Hyperglyph even more than the singer, and I agree that the problem lies with the choice of artist. Given their budget, they could have produced a much better song. One fan pointed out that it doesn’t meet the standard of quality expected for music in the AK franchise, while another bluntly stated the song simply sounds poor for a Chinese production.
