ARK: Survival Ascended is Getting a Free ‘Aberration Ascended’ Expansion

As a seasoned survivor of the ARK universe, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming expansion, ARK: Aberration Ascended! Ever since my days spent battling dinosaurs and crafting crude tools on primitive islands, I’ve yearned to explore new, radiation-ridden territories. The prospect of delving into lush biomes beneath a damaged ARK while contending with malfunctioning maintenance systems and the like sounds like an adventure tailor-made for my survival instincts!

Studio Wildcard has announced that ARK: Survival Evolved is getting a significant free update titled ARK: Aberration Elevated. This new adventure will transport you to a malfunctioning ARK, where the outer atmosphere has been depleted, making the surface uninhabitable due to intense radiation.

Beneath the surface lies a rich array of biomes, yet you’ll encounter the ARK’s faulty maintenance systems and numerous other perils, such as creatures and challenging environments. You’ll have the opportunity to tame and capture 15 new creature types, among them the bat-winged dinosaur ‘Yi Ling’, the camouflaged ‘Rock Drake’, and the luminescent ‘Lantern Pets’.

Ascension Aberration provides you with thirty Engrams to elevate your crafting capabilities. Among the over fifty exclusive items you can build are cave-climbing tools, gliding wingsuits, and ziplines, along with hazmat suits, flashlights, stun grenades, batteries, flashing sticks, railguns, and various survival equipment to assist you in your journey.

In the second installment of Bob’s adventurous stories titled ‘Steampunk Ascent’, Karl Urban reprises his role as the main character, Bob, who narrates to Meeka (Auliʻi Cravalho from Moana). The upcoming episode promises a journey through deep spaces utilizing a Zeppelin, swinging on spider-silk ropes with ‘Cosmo’, and encountering SIR-5rM8, a robot character voiced by Alan Tudyk, known for Resident Alien and Star Wars: Rogue One.

In Bob’s Tall Tales – Steampunk Ascent, you’ll find three fresh weapons and tools, eleven brand-new structures, more than forty design skins for existing structures, fifteen new character outfits, and a novel creature saddle cosmetic. This update also brings about an 80%+ improvement in frame rate across all platforms, courtesy of the incorporation of AMD FidelityFX Frame Interpolation.

The free ARK: Aberration expansion is approaching for ARK: Survival on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms soon. Meanwhile, Bob’s Tall Tale 2 – Steampunk Adventure is already live, and the final chapter of Bob’s Tall Tales, titled ‘Wasteland War’, will be released together with the Extinction Expansion Pack at the end of 2024.
