Ariana Grande’s boyfriend Ethan Slater finalizes divorce from Lilly Jay – over a year after he started dating pop star
As a long-time follower and observer of celebrities’ lives, I must say that it seems like a whirlwind romance for Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater. It’s almost as if they were cast in a real-life version of Wicked, with their love story unfolding just as quickly off-screen as it does on it!
After parting ways last year, Ariana Grande’s partner, Ethan Slater, has officially concluded his divorce proceedings with his ex-wife, Lilly Jay, reaching an agreement on the terms.
Documents obtained by TMZ showed that a judge signed off on the arrangement as of Thursday.
Approximately a year has passed since the pop singer-cum-Broadway actor, aged 31 and 32 respectively, developed a romantic relationship while filming their upcoming multiple-episode project, Wicked.
On July 26, 2023, exactly five years after their wedding, Slater initiated a divorce proceedings from his long-time lover, Jay, whom he met in high school.
As of then, Ariana Grande was still tied in marriage with Dalton Gomez. However, she initiated the divorce proceedings in September 2023, specifying their separation occurred on February 20, 2023.
In October 2023, Ariana’s divorce was finalized. Instead of ongoing spousal support, she made one lump-sum payment of $1,250,000 to Gomez.
She also paid $25k of the real estate broker’s attorney fees.
In December 2022, Ariana and Ethan crossed paths on the United Kingdom film set where they were both working on the stage-to-screen adaptation of the musical Wicked. In this production, Ariana portrays Glinda – the benevolent witch, while Ethan takes on the role of munchkin Boq.
Both parties announced they had split from their spouses within a few days of each other.
Three days prior to making public her new romance with Ethan, Ariana revealed she was separating from Dalton, who subsequently filed for divorce from Lilly.
He cited irreconcilable differences and asked for joint custody of their two-year-old son.
Later on, Lilly criticized Ariana harshly during several critical interviews, stating that Ariana isn’t exactly a friend to women and remarking that “my family is merely casualties in her path.” She spoke to Page Six about this.
In an exclusive conversation with DailyMail.com, Lilly expressed her intention to progress forward in life as a dedicated single parent last year.
On Friday, Ethan publicly demonstrated his backing for his girlfriend by posting the latest Wicked trailer on social media, emphasizing Ariana’s role as Glinda.
He wrote in an Instagram Stories post, ‘Can’t wait for everyone to meet Galinda.’
Following backlash over the timeline of their relationship, the couple has kept a low profile.
They were most recently spotted enjoying game One of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final in June.
