Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m still reeling! Ariana just shared the most heartbreaking post – she officially said goodbye to Glinda! After five and a half YEARS of her being Glinda, it’s just… so emotional. I can’t believe she’s letting go of that role. It feels like a piece of her – and a piece of us – is saying goodbye too! I’m honestly a mess.
The 32-year-old actress, who was a standout at the Critics Choice Awards 2026, posted photos on Instagram. One picture showed her in her movie costume, with tears visibly running down her face.
She captioned the post to her million followers: ‘bubble things five and a half years with G.’
In the photo, a tearful Ariana Grande is smiling and giving a thumbs up while holding a lollipop, even though she’s wearing full makeup and crying.
The gallery also featured candid behind-the-scenes photos, including some selfies taken while she was having her hair and makeup done.
There was also a Polaroid of herself pulling duck face selfies with Wicked director John M. Chu

Oh my gosh, this isn’t the first time she’s said goodbye to Glinda! Remember back in November, after Wicked absolutely smashed box office records? She wrote this amazing, heartfelt open letter to all of us fans, just pouring out her feelings about playing Glinda. It was so emotional, and I’ve read it like, a million times since. It really showed how much the role meant to her, and honestly, it broke my heart a little, but in the best way possible!
I was so excited to see that my favorite artist, the incredible Grammy winner, posted a heartfelt message online! It was perfectly timed with the amazing opening weekend of Wicked: For Good. Seriously, the movie is breaking records and is already proving to be one of the best movie musicals we’ve seen in years – I knew it would be huge!
In her message, Grande openly shared how much the world of Oz means to her, explaining it’s been a place of comfort and security for as long as she can remember.
The performer shared the important life lessons she learned through her story, like learning to love without limits, to forgive others, and to stand up for ourselves and those we care about – and to always fight for what’s right.
She then shared her thoughts on playing Glinda, explaining that it deeply changed her.
Playing Glinda the Good and becoming part of this incredible team has been the best experience of my life. I’ve learned so much from working on this project with everyone,” she said.
Grande also shared how much the film and its story mean to the fans, saying that seeing audiences connect with Wicked as deeply as she has throughout her life has been incredibly special and rewarding.

At the end of the message, she reflected on the end of this chapter of her life.
Before I leave, please remember this: when things are frightening or you’re feeling lonely, home isn’t a place – it’s wherever and whoever you choose to share your life with. Your friends and loved ones – your chosen family – love you for who you are.
She signed off the message by writing: ‘Love always, Ariana (Your Glinda).’
As a huge Ariana Grande fan, I’m absolutely loving what feels like a beautiful, heartfelt tribute she’s giving to her ‘Glinda’ era! It’s full of that confident, leading-lady energy and just radiates Broadway magic, and honestly, it’s everything.
Another wrote: ‘You can feel how much this role meant to her……. so genuine.’
‘Ariana talking about Glinda like it changed her whole soul, this is beautiful,’ a third added.
Earlier this week, Cynthia Erivo, who starred alongside her in Wicked: For Good, shared a touching farewell as the production wrapped up.
She shared on Instagram that no amount of writing – not even an essay, poem, or something in the style of Shakespeare – could truly capture how much this experience meant to her or the impact it had. She realized that trying to measure the love she felt or the stories she heard with numbers or words just wouldn’t be enough; it all felt too immense to quantify.

She continued, saying, “Just let me say this: take my hand and walk with me to the very end. Maybe the lessons I’ve learned along the way will help you too. Thank you for allowing me to be your Elphaba.”
The movie Wicked: For Good had a hugely successful opening weekend, earning a remarkable $150 million in North America and $226 million globally – one of the biggest launches of 2025.
The new sequel opened at number one in North American theaters, earning $68.7 million during its first weekend. This total includes $30.8 million earned from preview showings, and it played in 4,115 locations.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, this movie is the second part of his ambitious project to bring the famous Broadway musical to the big screen. It tells the never-before-seen story of how the witches of Oz came to be.
The Hollywood Reporter says the new movie musical has broken records with its opening weekend. It made more money than any other Broadway adaptation’s debut, exceeding the $112.5 million earned by Wicked last year. It’s now the third-highest-grossing opening weekend for a musical film ever, trailing only The Lion King (2019) and Beauty and the Beast (2017).
By early January, Wicked: For Good had earned $340.1 million in North America and $178.8 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $518.9 million.
