Ariana Grande is coming to Australia! Singer is flying to Sydney to attend the Wicked premiere

As an ardent fan of musicals and Ariana Grande, I am absolutely thrilled to pieces about her upcoming visit to Australia for the premiere of Wicked! This is not just any movie, but a screen adaptation of one of my all-time favorite musicals, a story that has captured my heart since its debut on Broadway. And to see two of my favorite stars, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, bringing Glinda The Good Witch and Elphaba Thropp to life on the big screen is nothing short of magical!

Ariana Grande will make a visit to Australia before the debut of her eagerly-awaited film version of the musical “Wicked.

31-year-old singer known for “The We Can’t Be Friends,” will be flying to Sydney with her Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, and director Jon M. Chu, for the premiere event.

As an ardent follower, I’m thrilled to share that our global tour kicks off right here in Australia! The much-anticipated premier is set for Sydney’s State Theatre on November 3, followed by a nationwide cinema release on November 22. Can’t wait to be part of this exciting journey!

‘Hi Australia! We’ve got something exciting to share,’ Erivo began in a social media video.

We’re on our way to Australia for the premiere of our latest film, ‘Wicked’! Prior to that, Grande made a statement, followed by the appearance of Goldblum and Chu.

‘Hey Sydney! We’re thrilled that Australia will be the first stop on our global tour. We can’t wait for you to experience the magic of Wicked on the big screen,’ Chu said.

‘We have a few more surprise guests that will be joining us Down Under, so keep an eye out.’

The exciting announcement comes after Grande finally addressed the ongoing criticism surrounding her ‘changing voice’ and has suggested she wouldn’t have received such backlash if she was a man.

Back in June, the singer surprised fans when she switched between two unique voices while discussing her childhood and time with Nickelodeon on Penn Badgley’s podcast, Podcrushed.

In this specific instance, a clip sparked widespread surprise on social media. It captured Grande unexpectedly dropping into a deeper, more rugged tone, only to swiftly elevate her voice to a much higher pitch.

In a conversation with Vanity Fair, Grande clarified some misconceptions by stating, “A significant portion of the globe is unaware of the effort required to alter one’s voice, be it for singing, adopting a new accent for a role, or creating a character voice for a project.

According to Grande, when a male actor performs a role, it is often praised and applauded. There are indeed jokes involved, but they usually follow the initial praise such as, “Wow, he was completely immersed in the character.” This is simply a part of the profession, she added.

She pointed out that being a woman in this field is like a timeless story, and there’s a distinct difference in treatment compared to others. Additionally, it feels as if she’s constantly under scrutiny, something not everyone experiences.

Initially, Grande defended herself against the criticism, explaining that adapting to her higher voice for her role as Glinda in Wicked was a factor in the perceived change in her vocal tone.

She clarified in her TikTok comment that it’s a habit she’s maintained for two years, along with taking care of her voice.

She mentioned that she frequently adjusts her voice pitch (either high or low) based on the amount of singing she’s engaged in, expressing this through a weeping emoji.

‘I’ve always done this BYE,’ she added to abruptly end the speculation.

As a lifestyle expert, I often ponder about the impact of our daily speech patterns on our overall wellbeing, and Ariana Grande’s vocal transitions have sparked an interesting discussion among fans. Although Grande didn’t explicitly address the reason for her change, many speculate that she returned to her higher register to steer clear of vocal fry – a slightly gravelly tone often heard in relaxed, lower pitched speech. Some believe this habit could potentially harm one’s vocal cords or singing voice, making it wise for artists like Grande to be cautious.

In the upcoming two-part movie version by Jon M. Chu of the 2003 Broadway musical, the actresses, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, portray unconventional friends. Grande takes on the role of Glinda The Good Witch, while Erivo embodies Elphaba Thropp, the infamous Wicked Witch of the West.

Elphaba is a young lady with an uncommon green complexion, often misjudged, as she’s still on the journey of unlocking her hidden strength. In contrast, Glinda is a well-liked young woman, adorned by privilege and aspirations, yet to fully reveal the compassion in her core.

The sequel to the first movie, which will be out this coming November, is set for release in Australia on November 21, 2025.
