Ariana Grande confirms Wicked reunion on “very special” new movie

Ariana Grande has teamed up once more with director Jon M. Chu for the animated musical film “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” – a project that is inspired by Dr. Seuss’ cherished children’s book.

On Monday (14th of July), I hopped onto my Instagram account to find some exciting news – Warner Bros. had confirmed it! They shared a delightful collection of images featuring me alongside my new co-star, the talented Josh Gad, who you might recognize from Disney’s Frozen. What a thrilling collaboration! 😊

Together with images of the duo along with their scripts, the post mentioned that Chu is set to co-direct with Jill Culton. At the same time, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the musical duo known for La La Land, will create original tunes.

Reflecting on her role in the project, Grande noted that the movie was “very special” to her.

“I love this book, I love this script, I love the beautiful @drseuss,” she wrote on Instagram.

I adore this extraordinary team of creative minds (@joshgod, you’re simply brilliant). Being a part of it feels amazing; it’s truly unique. It’s like a dream come true, and I can’t thank @warnerbros enough for the opportunity. Of course, my gratitude extends to @jonmchu as well.

1990 saw the publication of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” which was the final book written by Dr. Seuss before his passing on September 24, 1991. This book takes readers through a series of life’s twists and turns, as it tells the tale of a traveler venturing across a peculiar land, facing various obstacles along the way.

For Grande, this project signifies her most recent partnership with Chu, following their previous joint work on the film “Wicked” (2024) and its subsequent sequel, “Wicked: For Good”, set to hit theatres on 21 November 2025.

The movies were filmed consecutively, featuring Grande performing alongside Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and Jeff Goldblum. After its debut, the film Wicked garnered universal praise, earning 10 Oscar nominations, and securing two wins for best costume design and best production design.

The musical “Wicked” has shattered several box office records, including having the largest worldwide debut for any film adapted from a Broadway production.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! will be released in cinemas on March 17, 2028.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is now available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
